It's an intense week for #MuseumBasedTeaching @morethanadodo this week we're hosting @UniofOxford biochemists looking at the evolution of evolution with evo-devo specimen-based case studies with star turns from colleagues @djemurdock @Frankie_Dunn_ @SarahJoomun & others not on X

It's making me think a lot about different datasets I manage and the different choices around completeness colleages compiling them make because of currently known uses

Suggesting we should choose to exhibit complete datasets online rather than every bit of data in incomplete unhelpful data sets

Popping back here as I'm at #MusTech2023 listening to George Oates asking whether algorithms are the new historians. Spoiler alert her answer was no.

@spissatella Whilst you are there, make sure to incorporate prefixes based on characteristics like taxonomic group, stratigraphic horizon or geographical region. Those are super stable and you always have that information too.

My top tip for setting up a new museum. Start your accession numbering series at 1115 for no reason other than it'll annoy the sh*t out of your collections managers in 200 years time.

I have an overwhelming urge to try boiling these to see if they truly are shells…. 🤔🤣

@malcolmchapman I'm slowly trying to get my head around the different use cases, I get the impression this is more for standard collns processes and sapphire is for rapid data entry for digitisation and barcoding???
