Pixel Engine v1.1 (left) vs Nano Banana 2 (right). I gave both models basically the same prompt. Unless you've tried to create spritesheets with image models before, you probably don't realize how hard it is to get good motion. Image models don't want to animate things, they want to make images. I trained my own animation model (Pixel Engine 1.1) to solve this problem. It's a completely novel approach, and it works surprisingly well. You can try it for free rn in the pixel engine app.

Writing more Lore for the Journal showed that there are far too many Undead in the game😅 Some many, that I needed a scrollbar. Was surprisingly complicated to make the handle scale, move, and adjust the text in a pixel perfect fashion🫠 #indiedev #gamedev #pixelart #ドット絵

@Sarkicism @raddevus Yep.. includes iterations, animations, etc etc. It took a long time and I made the mistake of paying per hour, rather than per task because at the end the per hour rate was likely overreported. 3d is a lot cheaper than pixel art..

I worked three jobs just to finish my first indie game. Cosmic Coop took 3 years to make and cost around $92,000 (which is quite insane) It has only made about $20,000 on Steam so far, so it still isn’t profitable. But I don’t regret it. That project taught me more about development, art, and project management than any tutorial ever could. My next game, Critter Tactics, reuses the same assets but has a much smaller scope and is already halfway finished after only a few months. Scope matters.
