@ItsArklay I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt because of his recent successes. But man, it’s been rough for RE fans with movie adaptations.

@SarvMyLife And I believe Zach Cregger can do just that with Resident Evil. I’m sure when the movie comes out it will still feel like RE with new characters and story. Just my opinion though. Fallout was phenomenal!

(1/3) So the reason we haven’t gotten a faithful 1 for 1 adaptation of Resident Evil is due to a contract between Capcom and Constantin Film. The contract mandates live-action films to be in a separate continuity from the games #REBHFun #ResidentEvil

@ItsArklay Even if they keep it separate, that doesn’t mean it has to feel detached… Fallout is a good example. New story, new characters, still feels like fallout. Thats all people are asking for.

@ItsArklay Oh please. Even if there’s a separation clause, it doesn’t force them to strip it this far from the source. That’s the part people keep glossing over. The direction is still a choice.

@darkmcknight93 @SuspendedDoll1 That’s not accurate. RE7 had long-time RE leadership like Jun Takeuchi involved. It’s still the franchise evolving itself, not an external interpretation.

@SarvMyLife @SuspendedDoll1 And the people working on resident Evil currently are not the same people that originally made the first game there are new artists interpreting these stories and evolving it.

@SarvMyLife @nuhre_ When I was watching it, I got the impression it was just a collection of the director saying: 'look this is from the game!' But as a movie and story, it was a bad movie.

@darkmcknight93 @SuspendedDoll1 That comparison doesn’t even work RE7 is capcom evolving their own series, not someone else trying to interpret it.

@SuspendedDoll1 Because something being resident Evil doesn't mean retelling the exact same story. Resident Evil 7 is one of the best of the franchise and it has barely any connection to the rest of the series let him cook bro he knows what he's doing

@demboyz_vt @emeriticus if it’s going to drift this far from what makes resident evil what it is, then what’s the point of using the IP at all. Just tell an original story.

Cregger writes whatever he wants and studios pull up dump trucks filled with cash into his driveway. It’s very funny that chuds and whiny babies (redundant) think Cregger is just “using” the Resident Evil IP to make a generic zombie movie, as if the guy would be so desperate. It’s also clear he genuinely enjoys the franchise and is trying to implement key aspects of it into the film. It’s going to be great.

@demboyz_vt @emeriticus That’s a strange leap. Cultural relevance has nothing to do with whether an adaptation should be done properly.

@SarvMyLife @emeriticus What do you think this property is? Hilarious how big and culturally relevant you morons are acting like RE is. Should be greatful that Cregger likes the games and wants to make it a cool movie.

@TheAdamOfApples @emeriticus 2 good movies doesn’t mean this will land. Plenty of good directors have fumbled adaptations because it’s a different game entirely.

@scrimblobiden @emeriticus being a good director doesn’t automatically mean you nail an adaptation. different skillset. plenty of great directors have missed on established IP.

@AestheticGamer1 even if capcom prefers keeping it separate, that doesn’t mean you have to drift this far from the actual story and characters. You can still build original perspectives within the canon without affecting the games. This level of separation is still a creative choice

@SarvMyLife Not that it's only zombies, but getting lost in the weeds that this is an adaption, things will be changed for an adaption, but it also can capture the spirit of Resident Evil and be a great thing for the Resident Evil franchise long-term (and just a great RE film despite it).

Unfortunately, I think "missing the forest through the trees" is just kinda' a given with the loudest, dumbest voices in fandom these days. People get their knickers in a bunch over small things they miss the big picture of what's going on, you see it all the time from fandoms.
The_Dark_McKnight@darkmcknight93

@AestheticGamer1 I think fans get caught up in little details that don't matter. Like with historical epics I don't expect 100% accuracy storytellers have to tell THEIR story but what I do expect is authenticity. It's like they're missing the forest through the trees and it's a bummer
