@wildstwawberry Once you realize that with the London mulligan mulling to 5 is not a death sentence, you improve a lot. More people should mulligan more often

You quadruple your skill level at Magic when you stop blaming losses on mana screw/flood and realize that a majority of the game is learning to mitigate those two things (especially in limited)

@Zennistrad Never forget when they revealed chandra was gay in war of the spark, and then made her more ambigiously straight with some of the cringiest internal monologue of all time, and then made a dogshit boilerplate apology after. Man forsaken (and war of the spark novel) sucked

My new test of a persons character is if they say they like Star Wars I ask them what saber combat style they prefer and if they have an actual articulate response I rip their spine out of their back

Bulbagarden - The original Pokémon community
Beyond the damage category split - which already did a lot to breathe new life into a range of species - Gen IV is the one that really 'fixed' movepools and gave us so many staple moves that see widespread use today: Close Combat, Flare Blitz, Nasty Plot, Bug Buzz, Dark Pulse...

19 years ago today, Pokémon Diamond and Pearl Versions were first released for the Nintendo DS in North America! Along with features such as the GTS and a new damage category split, these games began the DS era of core series titles.

@targetplayer Sligh not only changed the way we think about mana, but also card advantage for aggro. It turns out that if you kill your opponent that has 4 cards in hand while you have 0, you were "equal" on card advantage. Cards not played when you die effectively were discarded.

Today in Magic history, 30 years ago: The concept of Mana Curve was unleashed upon the game by a 'goofy' red deck at an Atlanta Standard PTQ. Paul Sligh tore through a field of mono-black Necro and green-white Geddon with draft chaff greater than the sum of its parts. 🧵

The fact they wrote Scott Pilgrim Takes Off’s first season to be self-contained because they knew Netflix would cancel it makes me so sad. It just doesn’t matter how good your show is in the streaming era.

@uhavefckinguno @Fritz_Imperial Wan literally immediately punches the air and fire comes out. The lion turtles were an absolutely unnecessary change that just turns bending into good old fashioned magic.

@Fritz_Imperial The lion turtles only gave THE ABILITY to bend - the original benders taught the TECHNIQUES to bend. The Wan ep explains this concept. So people can be benders, but that doesn’t always mean they can execute bending. Turtles gave the power, but OG animals taught techniques.

“The appearance of an alien civilization in a swords and sorcery fantasy world”—I’ve always thought this was an interesting and fairly common theme, but there are very few works that actually manage to portray it in an engaging way.

@PunishedSmokey @inkymanelo888 Y was easily one of the least interesting games in the series to finish for me. Not awful, but just astoundingly mid. Also I know theyre designed for barely literate children but holy moly even by pokemon standards it was painfully easy

@Forcer69 @Skarrow9 Eramis returning was teased at the end of beyond light. My guess is that they don't want to have to keep coming up with excuses for why humanity can't use siva ourselves every time it returns.

@Skarrow9 I find it funny how they draw that line at Siva Fallen returning, but have no problem with - Bringing back Skolas (Who’s still alive) - Eramis - The entirety of Season of Plunder - A second house of kings on Kepler

We really don’t talk about how much Bungie truly hates Rise of Iron - Wrath is the only D1 raid not in D2 - Ash & Iron’s existence - No siva in game, but 1/10 of Eververse cosmetics are Siva related - The Cosmodrome repairing itself, while being broken during 2018 FOTL - Retcons

can someone answer a maybe dumb question for me about Polymarket / Kalshi / prediction markets? how is it not causing its own version of rampant insider trading? like, if you have inside info something is about to happen, can’t you bet on it and make $$$?

@DaimaxREAL Day night is fine when you are building around it, but it annoying that if the Celestus is removed you have to keep track of it for the rest of the game just in case it gets recurred. Not the end of the world, but just annoying. Its a mechanic that sucks to splash

My magic hot take is that whining about Day/Night in commander is just announcing that you doom scroll when it's not your turn. "Did a player cast 2 spells this turn" is something that tons of "fine" cards track to no complaints but the minute a werewolf shows up its all groans
