In my job I read A LOT of children’s books. IMO many contemporary books lack theme, vocabulary and over all feel full of nonsense from the illustration to the language. So I thought to create an ongoing rec list if anybody at all is interested.

@nealjclark1 So glad I’ve seen the havock wreaking affects of this as a primary school teacher, before having my own children. It is turning what used to be a nice job into a very very tiresome one.

Permissive parenting is by far the most common form of parenting because it requires no effort and has the added benefit of some perceived virtue. We live in a world of permissive parents

@SpiritedSparr0w Hate this for many reasons. It’s so ignorant of these people to forget that not having babies in to your late 30’s and 40’s is actually a very modern thing. Both my great grandmothers and most other women around them had children spaced over two decades, in to their 40’s!

There is something uniquely cruel about finding people who are putting themselves out there sincerely and vulnerably and then making a mockery of them. I'm pretty sure these women know how old they are and aren't deceiving themselves. Being open to children is signaling that 1) you are not child free by choice (important disctinction to make) and 2) you'd want it to happen naturally still if possible

@nealjclark1 Agreed. Liking or disliking Springsteen is a classic litmus test for deciding if someone is lame or not.

People hate Springsteen these days, a casualty of generalized and ignorant boomer hatred. I’m on Fire is an absolute classic with some of the greatest lyrics of our time.

@nealjclark1 My husband refers to the fact my Dad hasn’t been to the dentist since the 70s as an ‘inspiration’. I actually think it’s stupid but they seem steadfastly happy about it.😂
