@Sassythicksue76 @WhiteWi13 @SocialSecurity I stand corrected. They haven't closed yet, but some rural offices leases have not been renewed. Where do you think they will go once the lease is up? And they have terminated numerous employees. That only adds to the inefficiencies.

I was just at the local office and having written software for 30 years, it was easy to tell it used ancient software. The check-in kiosk had a touch screen that was so slow, most people had to visit a clerk to re-checkin. So probably half the people had to check in twice. After a long wait, they didn’t really listen to what I thought was the problem and just hurriedly scanned in my documents but apparently these docs are not automatically connected to a citizen’s file. Got called by a rep who couldn’t find my docs. And yes, that earlier clerk didn’t actually gather enough info to fix the problem. Said he had to look through 179 unlinked files from that day to find mine but I had to make a 2nd trip because they did not make copies of my driver’s license the 1st time. If they update the system, that would free up one clerk who seems dedicated to fixing messed up kiosk check-ins. And if they can link the documents to citizen’s accounts, that would reduce the time working each account.

SSA website went down because of atypical high volume and it’s a 1979 platform. It had nothing to do with DOGE. In fact, this problem has alerted to an issue that DOGE will promptly fix.

@WhiteWi13 @SocialSecurity Right. People can't get through to the social security office by phone now. The website keeps crashing. Offices in rural areas have closed. Social security is working with less staff. People's checks have been late. Someone better get dramatic.
