Jay-Z called it extortion and is now suing her attorneys in Alabama. 3/ RICO / TRAFFICKING / MONEY LAUNDERING — Fat Joe’s former hypeman sued Roc Nation in 2025 claiming it was part of a racketeering enterprise that laundered money through corporate accounts and enabled trafficking of minors. Roc Nation says the case is a shakedown and has moved to dismiss. 4/ WIRETAPPING / RACKETEERING — Roc Nation CEO Desiree Perez is named in a separate federal lawsuit by her own daughter, alleging she planted listening devices in her bedroom and used Roc Nation’s tech staff to hack her iCloud. RICO counts included. Case is active. 5/ SCHOOL FRAUD — NYC’s consumer protection agency launched a formal investigation in May 2025 into the Roc Nation School of Music. Students promised a “debt-free education” ended up with bills of $5K–$39K. The city quietly changed the scholarship language in 2023 without telling students. 6/ THE CEO’S PAST — Desiree Perez, current CEO of Roc Nation, was arrested in 1994 for possession of 35 kilos of cocaine as part of a major federal drug conspiracy. She allegedly became a government informant and helped the DEA break up trafficking rings. Trump pardoned her in January 2021. 7/ THE DIDDY CONNECTION — Combs was convicted federally in 2025. The FBI’s investigation of his network included the annual Roc Nation brunch, which Combs, Jay-Z, and Fat Joe all attended. When the feds map a convicted person’s network, everyone in that circle gets looked at. 8/ WHY THE FBI WOULD TARGET ROC NATION specifically: It’s not just about individual cases. RICO law targets enterprises. Multiple unrelated plaintiffs using identical legal framing — laundering through corporate accounts, financial cover-ups, racketeering — is exactly the pattern that triggers federal scrutiny. 9/ Add in: a CEO with a federal drug conviction, a network tied to a now-convicted Combs, financial operations across music/sports/spirits/streaming/film, and a school investigation that could trigger wire fraud referrals. The dots are there whether or not charges ever come. 10/ Nothing has been proven criminally against Roc Nation or Jay-Z. Several lawsuits appear opportunistic.
