ARNAUD DE LIE TO RIDE THE GIRO, BUT ABANDON BEFORE STAGE 10 The sporting manager of Lotto–Intermarché, Kurt Van de Wouwer, has officially confirmed that Arnaud De Lie will ride both the Giro d’Italia and the Tour de France this season…though not the full Giro. “Several factors influenced the decision to take part. Most importantly, there are three strong opportunities for him in the opening week, including the first stage in Bulgaria, where he could take the pink jersey.” “The main objective is to go for a stage win, regardless of when it comes. Arnaud is not expected to make it to Rome, where this Giro finishes. Instead, the plan is for him to race for about a week to ten days before stepping off.” “Arnaud needs race kilometers to reach peak condition. This program should also set him up perfectly for the Tour de France. As last year, he’ll prepare through the Tour de Suisse (June 17–21), and he may also ride the Tour de Wallonie (June 1–5).”
