We've been at this for a long time and are the ones who dictate what we do. We appreciate the confirmation from those who actually make it. Litigating this online with anonymous people is frankly silly. To be clear, if this logic holds, then those same people need to get to tell white cosplayers that they're not REALLY capturing the characters (they only do this to black cosplayers) and that Japanese rappers like Awich are NOT really making rap music but Black American-inspired hip hop. Somehow -- these same anonymous accounts don't do that -- so again, it seems a rather pointless discussion to those of us working at this level. Either way, we'll keep at it as we have for more than a decade.

@Saturday_am @Rho_zzz Manga just means comics, so you're making manga to them. I guess the meaning of the term manga outside of Japan hasn't been defined clearly yet. I would say you're making japanese comics if you grew up in Japan and are publishing comics in Japan.

That’s unfortunate for them but we’re not going to do something different for a small group of unelected individuals who anonymously use social media over professionals who have recognized our work and our own global Fanbase and creative teams. We’ve been doing this a long time - we know a bit more about the “people” who are claiming this and it has nothing to do with naming conventions. Either way, we’ll continue on.
