Using the Internet to argue about movies - as Gore intended. I'm in a movie. You should check it out: https://t.co/fEMzFLJF3w

Nowadays, it's more important than ever to engage with people you know are the real deal. If you're not an offshore bot account and you like to argue about movies, literature, and pop culture, or if you're a fellow "J. Golden Mormons", let's follow each other and have some fun.

The funniest thing about the discourse around THE ODYSSEY and the callouts against Christopher Nolan is that dude isn't on social media and does not--and will not--know about any of this, so y'all are just yelling into the wind while he's vibing and making his movie. Hilarious.

@iamnyct0n01r After his appearances MK9 and MK11, you gotta go out of your way to make him problematic. I say let him fight!

Can we get Nightwolf in the next Mortal Kombat movie or is he still seen as too problematic?

@Billy_Ocean_ Spider-Man PS4 did the same for me when I visited New York. Guess this is my sign to pull GTA from the backlog...

What's most interesting to me is the language used, here and by many Tech Bros, re: AI. "We have to..." "Don't be left behind..." "You're not keeping up..." "Going to make your life easier and better..." "You have to understand..." "We have to use it." Patently ridiculous language. No one "has to" use anything. Everyone is on their own path and no one is "being left behind" at any point. Use of this type of language is nothing but an attempt to introduce fear and a lack of choice to you. You have nothing to fear, and you have free will, always. That is never not true. Never.

Mark Zuckerberg spent $80BN on the Metaverse. Completely wasted on legless cartoon avatars. The entire NASA budget is $24BN.

Come to think of it, there's also this documentary on Karen Carpenter that just went ahead and hired actors to depict scenes that weren't documented. A bit melodramatic, but still pretty good. And if "surreal" is what you're looking for, there's Todd Haynes' Barbie doll video...

@DiscussingFilm So there's this documentary on Kurt Cobain that uses hand-drawn animation to depict stories from his life that weren't possible to capture on camera. It's a great doc, and true to the grungy spirit of its subject. It should be on HBOMax if you wanna check it out.

Steven Soderbergh says his upcoming documentary about John Lennon and Yoko Ono will include roughly “10 minutes” worth of generative AI. “AI has been helpful in creating thematically surreal images that occupy a dream space rather than a literal space. And that’s been really fun because you need a Ph.D. in literature to tell it what to do. But like every other piece of technology, it desperately requires very close human supervision.” (Source: filmmaker.substack.com/p/steven-soder…)

See, that’s the biggest chasm between #AI grifter bros and actual artists: You see the audience as dimwitted, clueless, consumer cattle, and we see them as patrons, appreciators and even collaborators. People aren’t the mouth-breathing plebes you think they are.
Andrew Price@andrewpprice

Comments like this sound deranged to anyone outside of the artist sphere. The audience that watches Pixar movies do not care that the hair gets misplaced for 3 frames.
