What's most interesting to me is the language used, here and by many Tech Bros, re: AI. "We have to..." "Don't be left behind..." "You're not keeping up..." "Going to make your life easier and better..." "You have to understand..." "We have to use it." Patently ridiculous language. No one "has to" use anything. Everyone is on their own path and no one is "being left behind" at any point. Use of this type of language is nothing but an attempt to introduce fear and a lack of choice to you. You have nothing to fear, and you have free will, always. That is never not true. Never.

So there's this documentary on Kurt Cobain that uses hand-drawn animation to depict stories from his life that weren't possible to capture on camera. It's a great doc, and true to the grungy spirit of its subject. It should be on HBOMax if you wanna check it out.

Steven Soderbergh says his upcoming documentary about John Lennon and Yoko Ono will include roughly “10 minutes” worth of generative AI. “AI has been helpful in creating thematically surreal images that occupy a dream space rather than a literal space. And that’s been really fun because you need a Ph.D. in literature to tell it what to do. For those that don’t know, I am one of the managers at my local movie theater. Lately I’ve been having a rough time and even considering leaving my job because of how stressful it’s been. But with the last few days of Mario, I have seen so many families and kids coming in, so excited to see this movie and just to be happy to be in a theater that it has literally rejuvenated my passion and brought joy back into my work.
