The report confirms that progress depends on targeted action in three key areas: exploration, financing and permitting. Addressing these enablers would significantly improve the delivery of the Critical Raw Materials Act and unlock Europe’s raw-materials potential. (Euromines) Echoing the ECA’s conclusions, European Commissioner Stéphane Séjourné also wrote earlier this week in several European outlets, including Expresso: “Without an ambitious, effective and pragmatic industrial policy, the European economy is doomed to be just a playground for its competitors. We must establish, once and for all, a genuine European preference in our most strategic sectors.” Conclusion: Significant European stakeholders recognise that Europe needs to act meaningfully on its domestic critical raw material supply chain, and the time to act is now! Of the six selected companies, four (Savannah Resources PLC, Lifthium Energy, @topsoe_official and CALB Group Co., Ltd.) represent investments within the #lithiumbattery value chain. In this context, the #BarrosoLithiumProject stands out as the only lithium mining project included and the only project located in Portugal’s interior. In his speech, the 𝐏𝐫𝐢𝐦𝐞 𝐌𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐋𝐮í𝐬 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐠𝐫𝐨 highlighted the importance of building value chains in critical sectors, stressing that extraction must be carried out with the lowest possible environmental impact, and that for Portugal to increase prosperity, it must “create more wealth”, become “more productive” and operate with “greater agility”.
