
🚀 Portugal’s exports of military-use goods have surged in recent years, reflecting a growing role in high-value defence industries.
Between 2022 and 2025, exports increased by 77%, nearly doubling since the start of the war in Ukraine. While traditional weapons and components continue to account for the largest share, Portuguese-made drones are gaining significant momentum and now represent around 20% of total exports.
The United States remains the leading destination, reinforcing Portugal's position as a trusted supplier in international defence markets.
This trajectory highlights the country’s expanding technological capabilities and its integration into global value chains in strategic sectors.
