EU entry-exit system: Greece goes its own way. The EES – fingerprints/facial biometrics taken from all "third-country nationals" – is supposed to operate at all Schengen area frontiers. But Greece has decided to drop the biometrics for UK passport holders. independent.co.uk/travel/news-an…

Just spoke with dozens of European VCs They all agreed: AI is over No one is putting money into AI startups anymore OpenAI is likely going bankrupt I asked what the next big thing is They all answered in unison: Regulation. And the hot spot for the best regulations? Europe. Meanwhile, America is getting left behind

Commercial vessels reported multiple attacks in the Strait of Hormuz this morning as Iran attempted to close the Strait again. One ship was hit by an unknown projectile, and a tanker was attacked and fired upon by IRGC gunboats.

FT: The White House is moving to give major US agencies access to a modified Anthropic Mythos model built to hunt dangerous software flaws before attackers find them. That makes Mythos useful for defense because a model that can find a weakness in an operating system, browser, or server can help patch it faster. Looks like Washington is treating AI for cyber defense as too strong to ignore and too dangerous to hand out without tight control. --- ft .com/content/c9f5b690-a10e-4c66-9245-017f8bfbc7b4

If you use your imagination real hard, you might just believe 4 Humans travelled 500,000 miles in this thing, reaching speed of 25,000mph & hitting over 3000°C before landing in the sea. Can you imagine it?

@PippaCrerar If Starmer had been made aware of this, he would have removed Big Mandy from the ambassador post immediately - well, probably. Unfortunate that he appointed him and announced it before vetting was carried out. Bit of a slip-up there from the forensic barrister.

The war with Iran is currently intensifying and entering a new phase. For the first time since the Strait of Hormuz was closed, a tanker was violently attacked by the Iranian Navy/Revolutionary Guard, according to CNN. This could significantly worsen the situation and disrupt supply chains, potentially triggering a new escalation.

@bentossell Baffling inconsistency in skill install requirements. If I have Claude chat, code, co-worker, PowerPoint plug in, excel plug in, design preview, how many times and where do I have to install a skill?

Russia is in decay. The territories it controls were enabled by the Russian Empire and USSR, which controlled Poland, Ukraine, Belarus, Finland and the Baltics. Russia today does not have the same economic distribution it did back then. Literally all the economically important territories broke away with the exception of Moscow itself. The attached image is possibly the most important graphic in geopolitics.

@rcolvile @stephenpollard @tom_nhs The muggles have caught hold of the name 'Palantir'. It rolls off the tongue a bit like 'Cambridge Analytica' another company name with a slightly latiny feel they felt was evil.

Astronaut Christina Koch who was aboard NASA Artemis II rehabilitating herself after being in space. Well, this proves it then, they definitely travelled half a million miles around the moon and back, despite not being able to record any of it properly, if she has to walk like this…

This commentary is slightly ridiculous. Britain is only 'poor' relative to the US, & at a push Australia. It has a very similar GDP per capita to most countries in Western Europe & Canada. The US/Australia are richer than other Western countries largely due to natural resources.
Daniel Susskind@danielsusskind

I continue to think this is the most important single fact about modern Britain — not only is the country poor, but people just don’t realise it.

Thanks for confirming my expectations about my perspective being the odd one out 😉👍 This wasn't me being sarcastic! I like both! Big screens and buttons, being sort of a professional hybrid in both automotive and the aviation sector.

(Unpopulär) Opinion (apparently)... I thinks the #ID3neo cockpit is just terrific! This analogue, physical button, retro (Golf 2?) feel is exactly the direction I like in modern cars, which get duller by the minute. Great trend in making EV's look just like "normal" cars again.

this guy really just dropped a comparison between Opus 4.6 and 4.7, showing with some seriously ROUGH results for 4.7. Turns out 4.6 easily crushed the canvas animation test both times he ran it. 4.7 left it completely static with no growth animation AT ALL 😱 [demo: @stevibe]
