Some kind of high powered mutant never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die. Icon by @louceph Likes may be NSFW.

Honestly, I think it’s a real shame that no one talked about the rest of Izumi Katō work because it is all… very strange… apparently most of his sculptures draw from the meaning of life Like this is all very interesting

SCP-173, the very first SCP entry posted on 4chan's /x/ board in June 2007, originally used a photograph of the sculpture Untitled 2004 by Japanese artist Izumi Katō

@allowableman2 Fun Dact: The author of the original comic this was based on stopped making it after being exposed to the internet and finding these kinds of nerds not only existed but were even worse than he imagined.

@kenshirotism I would argue another aspect is social media and YouTube giving rise to a cottage industry of carpetbaggers whose sole purpose is to perpetuate outrage.

The reason fandom culture has become so psychotic is because they don't actually like the material itself. They love the "fandom". The aesthetics of it, the fan works, they couldn't give a shit less about the actual media. It's why they get so violent towards the creators.
ira 🌲@ira_xu

biggest takeaway i’ve had from the reaction to this tweet is that people are way too obsessed with game fandoms and feel like they’re something they absolutely Have to be in through any means necessary

@denpaarchivist It's especially bad when the studio has completely dissolved, the creators have long since scattered to the winds and the theoretical current rights holders almost certainly don't even know they own it.

piracy of obscure and defunct titles is bad, guys. support the official release by paying 500 dollars to a random scalper that is unaffiliated with the original studio like a good boy

@steel_neck I still think about the idea PointlessHub brought up, where if Zilla had hid in the Central American jungles to have its babies, then things would've been a lot more apocalyptic.

To me the movie has an oddly appealing aesthetic. The story is pretty weak and most of the cast don't do much, but the sound design and visual of it make it nice to watch. Also, again just me, if the main character were Hank Azaria and Jean Reno it'd be more interesting.

Godzilla (1998) remains a strange outlier in the franchise. Roland Emmerich treats it like a 90s disaster movie first and a kaiju film second, which is exactly why it still has its own cult following.

@lunaromancia Sadly the need to show superiority by bringing out a laundry list of trivia and obscure titles has been a facet of geek culture since time immemorial. See Eltingville/The Eltingville Club.

anime fans are obscenely bad at recognizing jokes because they all have a disease that makes them want to flex trivia knowledge and seem like the most informed person in the room at all times and that inclination supersedes everything else

@alexriesart From what I heard, network execs got tired of shows targeted towards kids being too mature, not really wanting to target the pre-teen and teen demographic and possibly getting tired of parents complaining so they've decided to go all in on toddlers.

@AnAverageGamerX It would make sense that at least part of the collapse of the AAA market is because executives foolishly presumed they could make the lockdown boom last forever.
