You may supply us with vital information to that could be used to protect fellow South Africans.
@dotZADNA These are just some of the cases we know about, but many more victims complain, never report it. At best we're able to record about a quarter of the incidents.
A view of non-delivery fraud in South Africa. These are just cases reported to us. What follows is identity theft and extortion.
Some more interesting numbers to follow. South Africa is asleep at the wheel, while European and US registrars are happy to pass the buck.
@dotZADNA
If only South African authorities came down as hard on the South African #scamdemicZA as it did on CovID. One cup at a time, if at all, is not the answer in a flood.
@elonmusk@realdrewpage It may seem cheap in the US, does not translate globally. Consider a pensioner saving for solar, paying petrol for a generator, family security all out of necessity, supporting 4 people on a mediocre income, yet still scrounging pennies; hosting, domains to protect consumers? 🤔
Given that modern AI can solve any “prove you’re not a robot” tests, it’s now trivial to spin up 100k human-like bots for less than a penny per account.
Paid verification increases bot cost by ~10,000% & makes it much easier to identify bots by phone & CC clustering.
Obvious conclusion: paid account social media will be the only social media that matters.
If you decide not to accept it, does ISP punitive early termination fees apply?
UPay or UPay?
Other ISPs the same. Upgrade the service, push up the price. Whatever happened to consumer choice, protection?
