Hi all! Been testing this for a while but now wanted to get more users on it! BerkeleyCrime is now out in testing publicly. This website and IOS app allows you to view the past 24 hours of Berkeley PD/FD calls on a 10-20 minute delay. This sources data from BPD’s log system.

Berkeley PD has encrypted.

Hi all, been a while. Just wanted to post that Oakland PD will be moving encrypted on Wednesday. The majority of agencies in the east bay will follow with encryption in the coming months. For Berkeley PD, dispatch will remain open per city council resolution. UCPD is encrypting.

THIS IS EXACTLY WHY ENCRYPTION IS ALREADY CAUSING ISSUES. The call went out at 8:52pm, no alert until 9:08pm. They did not clarify what happened until 10pm, where no description was shared. These agencies have to learn, the more you withhold does not protect the public.

@PopsFreshenmyer They blame the DOJ mandate to protect personal information. They had other options like secondary records channels or using MDTs like Berkeley does. Unfortunately no agency decided to do that and all are moving encrypted instead.

@ScanBerkeley What reason do they have for doing that? Is it a normal tech upgrade or something else?

@925mlbfan Correct, I have all the new TG lists already. Berkeley PD is really going to be the only ones left open unfortunately.

@ScanBerkeley There's a note on Broadcastify that says most East Bay PD will go encrypted at the end of Sept.

#pursuit is now over in Albany, they took the Buchanan exit and one suspect is in custody.

Hi all! Been a while! Richmond PD is in #pursuit of a ADW suspect (on police) and armed robbery suspect. Berkeley PD is monitoring since the pursuit is on the edge of the city.

This is not in LA but I had to post it anyway…In Berkeley there was just a call for a battery via thrown banana. (AUDIO ATTACHED) @BerkeleyScanner @friscolive415

The Tsunami Warning has now been canceled by the state. Berkeley is now holding evacuation operations pending confirmation.

Hey all. Been a while but got some private messages regarding the Tsunami Warning. I did some checking for you all: BPD is giving evacuation warnings near the Berkeley Waterfront. They have since switched to an encrypted tactical channel which I cannot monitor.
