@Herring1967 Thanks for the show last night. The bit about Siemens reminded me that I used to ring their head office in the UK. Policy was "Hello $CompanyName, $own". So they had to answer the phone with "Hello, Siemens <cough cough> Staines. See the podcast with Kev is out too!

@theJeremyVine Our council spent 4.5mil knocking down one of the largest theatres outside London. There is an observation wheel and crazy golf on the site now.

@theJeremyVine Scarborough Council *had* to cancel the fireworks. Letting them off would have seen legal action being taken against them - the walrus is a protected species, the fireworks would have been viewed as endangering a wild animal.

@voglerr @snzerox @trakt Don't you think they've got enough on their plate without giving them extra work with GDPR requests? Besides, they can only send data they've got, so if anything's been lost... then it's been lost.

@snzerox @trakt EU residents can do a GDPR request. Don't know how they'd respond to it, but I think they'd have to give you your data.

Earlier this week, we restored a full database backup from Nov 7 as the starting point. We’ve incrementally imported data from Nov 7 up until the database crashed on Dec 11. There is data corruption, but we’ve recovered a good percentage thus far.

@JorgVervaet @trakt Not always that easy. Besides, without knowing how much revenue they get a full mirrored redundancy setup maybe outside their budget? I've been there, it's not fun.

@trakt So you don’t have 2 servers? Always have 2 mirrors so if 1 fails the other 1 takes over. Don’t you have a backup?

On Dec 11 at 7:30 PST, our main database crashed & corrupted some of the data. This is unplanned & we've been working around the clock to restore it. It's a painstakingly slow process given the scale of data. We unfortunately have no ETA but we're doing everything we can.

@iamicb @theJeremyVine According to W3W, two similar phrases aren't supposed to be locations close by. That's clearly not the case here. And in plenty more cases as well.

@theJeremyVine What3Words doesn't work. ///ashes.string.takes ///ashes.string.take are two locations that are 9 miles apart. On the same river. One on the middle of Waterloo Bridge. One near the Thames near Abbey Wood. It's also a proprietary closed system that limits usage
