Earlier this week, we restored a full database backup from Nov 7 as the starting point. We’ve incrementally imported data from Nov 7 up until the database crashed on Dec 11. There is data corruption, but we’ve recovered a good percentage thus far.

@trakt @voglerr @morhac Sure thing :) Will wait until you enable the API again (and see how much data you manage to recover next week) and then maybe create a script to sync the cache with the account activity if possible. Love your website! Don't wanna stop using it.

Trakt website & Plex scrobbler are back online! Trakt API will be back next week. We're closely monitoring the servers while things ramp up. We're deeply sorry for the extended downtime & we'll do better moving forward. Updates to our automated backups are already in place.

@AlissonSteffens @stringsoft1 @trakt EU residents can do a GDPR request to get their data. You should be able to get everything via their API as well. You can try this: github.com/xbgmsharp/trak…

@stringsoft1 @trakt Actually, site is up again and I don’t have this option. As @voglerr said, I think it’s not available for free users. Still think It would be an important feature to the software.

We were able to restore a baseline database backup & are importing data added between that backup & Dec 11. First up is refreshing TV show & movie metadata. We're currently working on the user data. There is some corruption, but we're working to save all that we can.

@morhac @trakt Yea, just also tried to check what's there, but don't know how it's encoded.

@trakt Since Trakt stores data on LocalStorage, would it not have been more prudent to offer the web users the option of using that as seed data right now in case their data was part of the corrupted batch, instead of overwriting all that as soon as they logged in right now?

@Marchallada Some data is cached in your browser. The history up to November 7 is the actual data that we have. Hopefully the rest will get restored soon.

@snzerox @trakt EU residents can do a GDPR request. Don't know how they'd respond to it, but I think they'd have to give you your data.

@trakt this situation is why having an option to export / backup our own data should be mandatory for all services even on the free plans

@stringsoft1 @AlissonSteffens @trakt Not true for free accounts. I tried exactly a month ago and didn't want to spend 30$ for VIP to get *my* data. Better should have apparently😑 Could have made a GDPR request as well🙄 At least I imported everything to simkl.com, maybe I can get the data from there.

@AlissonSteffens @trakt You can download lists and watch history from the web site, exporting each to a CSV. I do that on regular basis.

On Dec 11 at 7:30 PST, our main database crashed & corrupted some of the data. This is unplanned & we've been working around the clock to restore it. It's a painstakingly slow process given the scale of data. We unfortunately have no ETA but we're doing everything we can.

Still working on the database. No ETA at this time. It’s slow going since the database sever is so large and all operations take a very long time to complete. Thanks for your continued patience.

@Google My #Pixel5 just randomly died while using it - 1 week over warranty 😭 Now I see that I lost hundreds of open tabs in Chrome. How can you not save this data? 🤯 'Tabs from other devices' just shows a few tabs. Takeout just has history data. #fail Don't want a #Pixel7 now.

@DerekNonGeneric @liagason Why no runtime? C# needs the .NET runtime, no? Probably faster than nodejs, but IMO bad performance will more likely be due to the wrong data structures than the language.

@voglerr @liagason Want to use the collection classes from C# standard library (they use generics) to build backend infrastructure that runs on bare metal (no runtime). Not sure if possible, but can't use TypeScript getting compiled to JavaScript since that needs a JavaScript runtime for execution.

Confession: I don't really like C++. I took the intro course in junior college, passed it, and then took a course on C immediately after. Still a big fan of C.

@HaraldZe @ghost_berlin @LageNation @philipbanse @vieuxrenard Muss ich das jetzt erklären? Je mehr R durch App/Masken/Vernunft/whatever gedrückt wird desto mehr Freiheit hat man an anderer Stelle. Ich denke den Peak bei der Vernunft haben wir überschritten. Kontaktverfolgung ohne App ist zu langsam weil ~50% der Infektionen vor Symptomen.
