Losing a coach this late is not a good sign, decent odds that NIU is horrific next year.

From 2002-2018, a span of 17 seasons and 4 different head coaches, NIU went 103-32 against the MAC.
Thomas Hammock vs the MAC: 23-31.
The Notre Dame win and 2021 MAC Championship masked just what an incredibly poor job he did. Tanked one of the best G5 programs in the country.

Here’s the most damning Thomas Hammock stat: From 2009-2018 (the year before Hammock took over), NIU had won 20 straight games against Ball State and Eastern Michigan. Hammock departs from DeKalb with a 5-8 record against Ball State and EMU.
