Every morning I work on a song while eating eggs and oatmeal. Been kicking this one around for the last two weeks and decided to record a live demo… more laid back than the previous rendition. @Scherry_Sc I appreciate it when I read it and feel like it's intentional/clever. Usually not in song because often it's just a lazy way to find a rhyme. I don't believe songs should be mysterious in general. That's not what music is for imo... generally.

@realevanslewis Ok one thing I do know about me : I do love hidden meanings and philosophies in songs. I need to hear the heart beat and heart break 💔 of the song 😛😛😛

anyway. it'd be easier if I believed in using highly esoteric/personalized metaphors in songwriting but I don't. for example I like the song "new slang" but I have no idea wtf he's talking about and I don't care. feel like it's a cheat code because you have more optionality regarding prosody, and I think it's just lazy. someone who struggles with songwriting will understand what I mean. not all lyrics needs to be literary or whatever... if the music is less about lyrics and more about raw feeling/passion or aiming to be pop etc, then I can enjoy. I just hate esoteric metaphors in songwriting. they and their fans reek of pretentiousness.
