My unpopular opinion is that there is far less political violence now than in the past — from the right or left, although it remains predominantly a right-wing phenomenon. Also, the perpetrators more often seem to be lone wolves, ie, not part of any organized effort.

I went to a bar mitzvah at the Washington Hilton in 1981, right after Hinkley shot Reagan there. Reagan famously loved jelly beans & the hotel still hadn't removed big jars they'd put out in his honor. We 12-year-old boys ran through the halls throwing handfuls at each other.

Actually the 2021 UN vote wasn’t about “making food a human right” - it was a bundled resolution that included questionable anti-sanctions clauses.
But I guess that “minor detail” didn’t make the syllabus at the TikTok Academy of International Law where you “just found this out”.
