What if #AI could predict a cell's future? That's exactly what researchers at the Institute and @HelmholtzMunich are working toward with RegVelo, an AI-powered tool that helps scientists understand not only where cells are going, but what drives them there. On #WorldAIDay, explore how artificial intelligence is helping uncover the #biology behind development, disease, and regenerative medicine. ⬇️ bit.ly/4f7jlvZ

What a weekend.🏌️ As another incredible @ACChampionship comes to a close, we want to extend our sincere thanks to @AmericanCentury, @NBCSports, the players, volunteers, and everyone who helped shine a spotlight on the power of foundational #science. Congratulations to @MardyFish on capturing his third #ACCGolf title, we may be a little biased, but that lab coat made this victory even better. 🥼 Thank you for helping champion the #research that makes tomorrow's discoveries possible. Until next year, Tahoe. 👋⛳️🧬

What if a symbol of scientific discovery took inspiration from one of golf’s most iconic symbols of excellence? Inspired by the groundbreaking work of the scientists at the @ScienceStowers, the ACC’s official national charity, and the iconic green jacket synonymous with professional golf, the lab coat represents the qualities shared by great golfers and great scientists alike: a commitment to learning, a relentless pursuit of excellence, and the understanding that breakthroughs are achieved one thoughtful, precise step at a time. Who do you think will win the first @ACChampionship Lab Coat? Let us know what you think in the replies. #AmericanCenturyChampionship #GolfLife #GolfCommunity #CelebrityGolf #SportsForGood #CharityCompetition #TahoeEvents #GolfTournament #ACCGolf

New research shows aging ovaries undergo a massive cell takeover — and may start having a new function in the body. Traditionally, scientific research on female reproductive aging has focused almost exclusively on the egg itself. However, a pioneering study from the Stowers Institute for Medical Research reveals that the surrounding ovarian environment undergoes a dramatic transformation as time passes. By analyzing ovaries from aging mice—equivalent to humans in their mid-to-late 30s—researchers discovered a massive, age-related infiltration of immune cells, including specific macrophages and T cells. This influx shifts the ovary's local microenvironment from one dedicated to nurturing developing eggs to one dominated by chronic inflammation, a phenomenon known as 'inflammaging'. While the long-term consequences of this immune takeover remain under investigation, the findings have profound implications for women's health. The study showed that support cells in older ovaries appear to change their signaling, shifting their focus away from aiding developing eggs and instead releasing chemokines that draw in more immune cells. If a similar process occurs in humans, this chronic inflammatory state could contribute to age-related fertility decline and trigger health issues long after menopause. Unlocking these cellular interactions could pave the way for novel therapies aimed at preserving ovarian health and extending overall healthspan. source: Galligos, A., Varberg, J. M., Yueh, W. T., Converse, A., Malloy, S., Aljubran, F., Duncan, F. E., & Gerton, J. L. (2026). Multicellular origins of murine ovarian inflammaging. Communications Biology, 9, 593.
