This might not have been THE bottom. But while Top 10 Coins are blowing up to 0, OG Funds are getting margin called and theres basically carnage and fear everywhere...I was a buyer. I hope ill look back to this day with a smile in the future.

I guarantee you any programmer who is worth anything has seen weirder bugs than that, including me. Here's a potential, but probably wrong explanation: The game is listening for inputs. When I successfully activated the skill, it set a flag to indicate that I was in blinding flash mode. Entering blinding flash mode for the first time caused a trigger for the prompt to appear, which stops the game. Upon closing the prompt, it kicked me out of blinding flash mode but failed to acquire access to the flag and could not set it to indicate I'm no longer in blinding flash mode. This prevented subsequent activations from doing anything because the flag was already set and the actual mode switch depends on a change in the flag value. Rebooting the game (which I did) allowed me to activate the skill again because it cleared out the memory and reset the flag by force, but then the prompt happened again and caused the bug again. This is called a race condition and it's an extremely common type of bug in multithreaded programming, which this game likely is since it's common to process device data (keyboard inputs) and UI responses in different threads. Again, this is probably not what happened. Race conditions like that aren't usually super reproducible, which makes them frustrating, but I also gave up entirely after the second attempt. I don't know enough about the game's code to make a real guess, but if I were working on it and debugging it that's the first thing I'd look for. I have seen far far weirder bugs than that, like when I launched a piece of software on one computer that didn't talk to any of the other computers but somehow made all three of the OTHER computers freeze. Repeatedly. 5 different people never figured it out. I ended up fixing it by accident by rewriting the entire thing. That was a year in and I'm at ten years of experience. A weird input bug like this would be nothing in comparison. To address your other post, no, it doesn't. You can see it by watching a playthrough. The button prompt comes up, you do it, then the explanation screen comes up. And again, ctrl and alt and shift are what's known as "modifier keys" and on a PC when something says ctrl+ it means different from L+R on a controller. Like I originally said, I've never seen a PC game that made me hit keyboard keys at the exact same time like that. Usually the control can be mapped to one of the 110 other free keys instead of hacking together retarded combo presses because you're using an inferior control mechanism with about 15 buttons.

@GilbertTheGray @HAmorata also if youre trying to tell me that it worked twice for you and then never again and youre saying thats the games fault, i do in fact not believe that youre a programmer. If you were, you would know that this is absolute nonsense

I know reading is rough and you clearly like to make assumptions, but if you go back to what I said, it *technically* did work. Twice, or I'd have never seen that explanation window. And then the explanation window came up, I closed it, and it wouldn't work after that. I will repeat that for clarity: I WAS ABLE TO ACTIVATE THE SKILL TWO TIMES, PROVEN BY THE FACT THAT I SAW THAT SCREEN TWO TIMES. AFTER THAT SCREEN CAME UP, I WAS NO LONGER ABLE TO ACTIVATE THE SKILL, DESPITE HAVING NO TROUBLE AT ALL ACTIVATING IT TO GET THE EXPLANATION WINDOW. I only even found out LATER after watching a video about the update that I was actually activating the skill because I had no idea that the purple screen meant you had activated it because I couldn't get it to activate again after that. I thought the purple flash was just what it did before bringing up the explanation. I have no explanation beyond that because when I booted the game to try a second time I realized it told me that sprint was done by tapping shift and I decided I no longer have interest in the game, so I returned it. The controls are (or were, at least) batshit. They evidently updated the game to reduce input timing for M+KB specifically so perhaps that explains my problem, but it doesn't change the fact that nothing in the game said to press them at exactly the same time vs. hold one and press the other which, in the context of the PC, is what CTRL+ means by default. This game was clearly built by and for controller retards.

im quite sure the tutorial screen appears before you do the thing and not after, how is that making any sense. The game clearly states press button 1 PLUS button 2. You not getting that and infering something thats not on the screen is on you not the game. Absolutely nowhere does it say press button 1 and then button 2 after.

@GilbertTheGray @HAmorata i mean whats hard to understand when the game tells you press button 1 PLUS button 2 you may tried but you obviously failed. This works for everyone but you? Yeah sure.

Here's three explanations I found in the game. One from some game site and two from Asmongold's playthrough which is KB+M like me. The second image was the moment he triggered the event with the door. The third image is after the prompt pops up. Tell me where it says you have to hit them at the same time. I have never once played a game that made you hit two buttons at the same time like that in my history of PC gaming. CTRL + means "hold CTRL and press " in every single instance I've come across in 29 years of using computers (I also happen to be a software developer for 10 years, so LOTS of usage). Even so, like I said, I'm fairly certain that I tried it anyway and it didn't work. I SAW that third image in my own game, twice, which means I got it to activate, but when you close the prompt, as far as I can tell, it deactivates the previous blinding flash stance automatically. After the prompt, I couldn't get it to activate again. So tell me more, in your infinite knowledge of what I did and did not do and what it does and does not say, how I am stupid or mechanically inept.

@GilbertTheGray @HAmorata The game is clear about it, you have to hit them at the same time. The fact you couldnt get it right once is hilarious Thats not the games fault, youre just somehow stupid or mechanically inept

Assuming you mean hitting them both at the same time, I'm pretty sure that was one of the things I tried and if that's what it wanted it was certainly not clear about that. If you mean holding one and hitting the other, I absolutely did that. If the former is what you need to do and it was somehow not one of the 30 things I tried, these controls are even more retarded than I thought.

I'm one of those people who assumes stupidity before I assume malice. Not to say its never malice... but stupidity is far more common. The number of people who don't understand what their computer can truly run, and how to optimize their own settings is truly astounding - not to say that there aren't games that 100% need to optimize their own end better... but that it's not always a one sided issue. And with a game that had as much hype as Crimson Desert did, I sorta feel like the critters who are very attracted to hype, but maybe don't have that much between their ears were a little more prevalent than normal.

@KindredBlade ive only encountered the bear so far. I mean its the classic beat it a bit and then ride it to attack your enemies with it mechanic. Makes sense. If its the same with the dragon that would be sad tho

A Reddit user has found that not all mounts in Crimson Desert are permanent. Presently, only horses are permanent in #CrimsonDesert, meaning dragons, raptors, and bears are all temporary. Also, the dragon has a cooldown, and can only be used after it is complete. There is no known way to reduce the cooldown either. Is this a dealbreaker for you?

makes sense and i agree so far. Its just that some things are so outlandish that the fabricated part comes to mind. For example the mixed steam reviews at day 1. Half of them were complaints about the graphics which made me go like "huh...what" The game is gorgeous and runs so well. I can play with ray tracing on and ultra settings and get 160fps. Ive basically NEVER had that.

I don't know that I'd go that far. Even before the game released I thought it was going to be divisive in it's own way. Kind of the way Elden Ring was. It's a game that's really for a niche group, but because it got so much hype, it's getting a lot of people who wouldn't normally play this kind of game. They get irritated and frustrated, partly because the games they normally play hold their hands a lot more, and partly because they don't want to look dumb. Everything wrong has to be the game's fault, and not the fact that maybe, just maybe, this kind of game isn't for them - they don't want to accept the fact that something they percieve as THIS popular isn't for them, thus, something MUST be wrong with it. Now, on the plus side, a lot of people who wouldn't normally play this kind of game are finding something new they enjoy - but it's going to be a while before the people who can't accept that maybe it's just not a type of game they're really interested in stop whining

Some is, I don't disagree. However, there are some people who are definitely missing simple things and blaming the game for it at the same time. This is sort of a "two things can be true" situation. Really my biggest issue is the concept of "making the community look bad" as a piece of emotional blackmail - trying to shut people down for their own valid criticism of other people.

I mean I don't think the context really matters if I'm following the instructions displayed, but I'm talking about wayyyy at the beginning where you reflect light off your sword to open a door. I tried for 15 minutes and could not get the skill to activate. I'm annoyed because I want to like the game, but between the control scheme being some of the most wack shit I've ever seen and it straight up not working for me, that is difficult.
