This is with LINX Or C-TIF. I would not say that all Roads lead to TIF but very few roads in 2025 should lead to surgical fundoplication:)

While we will assess competency and record them, the goal is not to establish competency at that number.

Hoping this does not get misinterpreted. This is early pilot work for transnasal evaluation of the esophagus. Not a full endoscopy and no tissue sampling. Simply assessment. We are looking at feasibility. This does not replace egd in anyway.

Standard OGD is 200 cases minimum. It’s not that it’s that hard to learn the skill and most are good by 100 but the UGi tract has so many types of pathology (LGI is about 6) and how to manage them.

Again quite a bit of effort has gone into looking at all guidelines and this is a gap. They also have been spending countless hours in simulation.

@Samir_Grover Well said Samir. It is a flawed system. The constant push for the next level has reduced medicine to a checklist not the art it needs to be. I would much rather see a candidate with great personal skills and bedside manner than 32 DDW abstracts.

The use of research manuscripts as currency for residency and fellowship applications is both inapt and unfair. Why are we doing this? It doesn't generate impactful knowledge in medicine, doesn't create better doctors, and forces people to do things they don't want to do.
