It was always going to play out like this. A completely foreseeable & avoidable health crisis. And this guy @SenBillCassidy just couldn't find it in his conscience to do the right thing. It's okay, though. Bill is a Christian so all he has to do is say oops sorry & move on.

@drkylestaller IBS is an unfortunate name for a medical condition. The word “irritable” indirectly implies that it is all in the head (especially because all the tests are also normal) which leads to the stigma. We need a new name for IBS. Any suggestions? #IBS

5 years ago today the world changed. In NYC the medical system shut down elective procedures and encountered the beginning of a #COVID tsunami that was unprecedented. I remain in awe of all those who stepped up to care for COVID patients at a time when we knew so little about this disease. Even #Superman could not do what you all did! @AmCollegeGastro @nyulangone

Fear & Finance are the co-factors hear
No chaperone was also on list but very low down the list
Need to have conversations about these early & frequently w patients to mitigate

Largest predictors of No Show & last minute cancellations in our practice are Young Age No PCP & Insurance - Private > over MCD w High deductible Insurance (for office visits and endo)

Anyone out there find a solution to mitigate no shows at their ASC by using predictive overbooking strategies?
There is a limit to how much you can reduce no shows w/ even automated massaging and amazing printed/online material.
There are inevitable no shows.

Cutting telehealth coverage is a step backward. Telehealth ⬆️ access for:
- Seniors
- People with disabilities
- Rural communities
- The Immunocompromised
And it helps keep kids in school (virtual visits vs missed days).
Cutting telehealth won’t make America healthier.🤷🏽♂️
