@zenahitz Zena, how far should we take this?? E.g. When I teach Plato’s *Republic* my students think differently about Book I when they find out 1) about Plato’s uncle, 2) what he did to Cephalus’ family, 3) the context of the Piraeus or the Bendis Festival.

@leachfortexas Well done. But it shouldn’t be just for those who work there. It’s for those serving sentences as well. We show our humanity by how we treat those committed to our care.

Matt - I get the sentiment. But come with me sometime to visit some of these prisons and let’s talk together to the brave Texans who are staffing them — the guards, cooks, wardens and others laboring there — all of whom are under-paid, over-worked and subjected to dangerous and often deplorable working conditions, including the lack of proper air conditioning. Then report back.
