I made a new interactive tool that lets my high school electronics students decode UART serial data directly from an oscilloscope trace. They step through real waveforms bit-by-bit, watch voltage turn into ASCII characters, and then decode a few puzzles. eec-serial-data.scotthanneman.com

I made a new interactive "Center of Gravity and Pitch Stability" simulator for my high school engineering students. It lets you move the center of gravity on a plane and instantly see how stable it flies. We start designing RC airplanes later this week! ✈️ …and-pitch-stability.scotthanneman.com

Fostering practical skills is key. My High School Principles of Engineering class starts with 3D-printed penny catapults, a fun introduction to 3D modeling, measuring with a caliper, and begin to think criticaly about mechanical systems. Read my write up: scotthanneman.com/insights/craft…

For those curious, I ended up getting a ton of straws, micro paracord, a whole bunch of rubber feet, and a few random electrical switches.

Okay teachers, imagine you’re teaching 4-8th grade science class & your administration says they’d like to order you some #3Dprinters… What would you order?

Our team is incredibly excited to attend @EAA AirVenture Oshkosh for an assortment of flights and to continue raising awareness for @StJude as the Polaris Dawn crew progresses toward their launch to space later this year. Attendees, keep your eyes to the skies this weekend!

The Great Lakes on a clear winter's night, from the Space Station - in a glance you can see Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Detroit/Windsor, Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, Québec.
