. @LSUfootball @Lane_Kiffin says two things in particular can poison a coaching staff - egos and agendas. These things then trickle down to players, who will have a hard time buying into a team concept preached by the coaches. "I was too much about credit to me." #LSU

A lot of truth here. Don’t really understand the hit and lift aspect to teaching tackling. It’s unrealistic. You want to hit “through” the runner, a “penetrating” tackle with force projected more horizontally and towards the the ground. I like to think more “Saw him in half” The only time this is realistic is when you have an inside out tackler on a runner with a flat angle and the runner can’t see you. More of a DL pursuit tackle down the line. That’s really the only time you can “sprint” through him. More realistic you are hitting him thorough the shoulder and not down the middle face 1st. Still, force should be through him and towards ground. Not lifting on rise.

I love it when football guys hit the guy with the ball with the middle of their face, lift him off the floor in a bear hug, then run 5yds before hitting the deck. Happens all the time in the game. Highly representative drill design here. Bravo.

@AdamArchuleta @DB_CoachDeuce2 Short stride is for the purpose of sinking hips and getting the near foot up before the finish. Takes place generally within a yard or less of contact. Don’t stop and chop or “break down” 2-3 quick steps to get hips low and near foot up. It should look fluid in real time.

@DB_CoachDeuce2 Honest question. Long Stride, Short Stride - cool - but where, when and how do players re accelerate and create force?

“Y'all gotta accelerate through contact” Why isn't Kevin Smith teaching his backs to widen their base and “buzz” their feet before contact? Because that would be ridiculous, we all know that... Meanwhile defense is busy training "Anti-Acceleration" by widening/buzzing their feet (parallel) , rolling around with bags & diving at tackle wheels. Backs run hard and it's tough to bring them down one on one. We say things like "lower your pad level", "Be physical" and "Run your feet" - but the drills we do are often counterintuitive to how it actually works on the field.

"Y'all gotta accelerate through contact" New #LSU running backs coach Kevin Smith instructing the ball carriers. Smith has a tantalizing group to work with including players like Caden Durham and Harlem Berry.

They told you college sports needed saving… That it needed rules. Structure. Control. But then came #LSU. Not to follow the system… to break it. You don’t hire safe. You hire chaos. Lane Kiffin. Will Wade. Kim Mulkey. Jay Johnson. Every era needs a villain and this one is #JustDifferent.

@JesseFrisinger Go to a track meet instead and watch guys lay it all out on the track for the 4x400 while their teammates lose their minds on the infield, and watch big guys launch 12lb shots 50+ feet

Happy 3:16 day to all who celebrate. Flashback to when Stone Cold returned and hit a Stunner on almost everyone in the WCW/ECW Alliance. “HE’S WALKIN, HE’S TALKIN!” How Jim Ross didn’t suffer a heart attack here is a miracle. They don’t do moments like this anymore.
