No, the US Navy does not currently have dedicated traditional minesweeper ships (such as the Avenger-class) in the Strait of Hormuz or immediately nearby.
The US decommissioned its last forward-deployed Avenger-class mine countermeasures (MCM) ships—the USS Devastator, Sentry, Dextrous, and Gladiator—from Bahrain in September 2025 after over 30 years of service.
