I’m not a gun owner, but I respect the right of law-abiding Canadians to own firearms. What happened to Nathalie Provost was horrific, there's no question. But decades later, targeting legal owners instead of criminals and illegal guns isn’t the answer. Bans and buybacks miss the real problem. Personal trauma is real, but it shouldn’t drive policy that punishes people who’ve done nothing wrong.

The wildest part of yesterday’s unhinged press conference, was Provost yelling at the media, demanding they stop platforming the “gun lobby”.
She wants you to stop hearing from stakeholders, the ONLY people impacted by this gun grab.
Good, honest people who’ve done nothing to deserve this.

Nathalie Provost survived the 1989 Polytechnique massacre. She was shot by a deranged, disenfranchised young man fueled by hate and failure.
Tragic? Absolutely. But turning that horror into a lifelong crusade to disarm law-abiding Canadians? That's not heroism. That's trauma weaponized into a gun grab.
She doesn't target the illegal smuggled firearms flooding our streets or the criminals who actually pull the trigger. No. She's laser-focused on banning "assault-style" rifles, handguns, and anything that makes legal owners the villains.
Now she's cozying up with the Liberals, pushing buybacks and freezes that do nothing but punish hunters, farmers, sport shooters, and collectors who've never hurt a soul.
Newsflash, Nathalie: Your pain doesn't give you a blank check to erode the rights of millions who didn't commit that massacre. Criminals don't follow your bans. They never have. You're still "not well" after 36 years. Your haunted, angry, obsessed... get help. You look like a deranged lunatic.
Stop using Parliament as your personal therapy session to strip freedoms from people who had zero role in your nightmare. Grief isn't policy. Trauma isn't expertise. Canada deserves better than one survivor's vendetta dressed up as "safety".

Governments should be very wary of enacting OIC's and legislation that give rise to mass non-compliance.
They should also know better than putting someone so inherently biased as Nathalie Provost within 10km of anything to do with their Firearm Legislation from a conflict of interest perspective.
The Liberals would be smart to walk this back instead of pushing ahead. Take the loss and refocus on community policing, border security, and curtailing organized crime.
It is not conducive for the long term stability of the country or the credibility of our democratic institutions to pursue this any further and only risks doing more harm.
