We weren’t raised. We were released into the neighborhood with a bike, a questionable helmet, and a “be home before dark. Tell me I’m wrong 😂

@japan_nobunaga I was ten years old at the deer camp. My dad and my uncle put me in an old international scout with a manual transmission. They made me go backwards and forwards between two trees. First and reverse. I did that for hours then they turned me loose. Woohoo!!!

Be honest with me, Americans 🇺🇸 Do you actually let your kid drive on an empty parking lot at like 12 years old? In Japan, you can't even touch a steering wheel until you're 18. Not a joke. Not once. Not "just around the block." Never. But online, every American dad just goes "yeah I taught him on the farm truck when he was 10" like it's teaching him to ride a bike. So now I'm genuinely curious: How old were YOU the first time you actually drove a real car? Is this a rural thing? Or does this happen in cities too?

@japan_nobunaga We don’t get much snow in Texas, so when it snowed I took my son to the Walmart parking lot, which was empty because Texans don’t drive in the snow. Taught him how to do donuts that day. He learned vehicle control and we had a blast.

Had a good guitar practice session again today. I’m still playing the Tele in G tuning, which definitely fuels my enthusiasm. I find the sound of Open G to be pure and refreshing. The hardest thing to do with it is not fall into all the Keith stuff. There are other sounds in there but you have to dig for them.

@OrevaZSN I got my backflow prevention license for fire safety work. I learned not to drink water from a hotel or a hospital. Ever. That includes ice. There are nightmare horror stories about people getting sick.

I do not understand ice dispensers in hotels. I've never needed ice whilst staying at one, yet every hotel tells you where the ice machine is. Then I see people filling those little buckets. What are you all doing with the ice? Am I missing something?

@japan_nobunaga I grew up shooting. I don’t remember what age I started. Shot competitive at boys camp every summer. At fourteen I attained Sharpshooter rank in the NRA. I’m from Texas.

Be honest with me, Americans 🇺🇸 At what age did you FIRST shoot a gun? I'm an adult Japanese man who has never touched one. Ever. But I keep seeing family range days posted like… baseball practice. Is that normal? No judgment. Just trying to understand 🙏 (drop your age + state)

@madisonkelleyp Years ago my wife was standing at the kitchen sink with her hands in soapy water when lightning struck a tree about a hundred feet away. I saw her body stiffen and convulse and she collapsed on the floor. She recovered but for weeks she complained about feeling weird.

I need to know any of my other WV or Appalachian people grew up being told not to shower during a thunderstorm, because I said that to someone the other day when it was storming and they looked at me like I was crazy??

@iluminatibot This symbol was used by the Caddo Indians. It’s a bird foot in a bird egg. I’ve seen it carved in stone. The old man who showed it to me said it was a welcome sign.

TOT reader Molly Swartz was nice enough to share thiis photo of Houston's "Sir-Loin" restaurant. Molly's dad managed the restaurant for roughly eight years in the late 1960s and into the 1970s. The reastaurant's owner Sonny Look, a legendary character and about whom I had never heard until I did some research. Molly says that Mr. Look was quite the character and that the food there super duper. I can believe both. Thank you, Molly. Looks like a great place!
