BBC Sport have just done a feature on what football will be like 2036. Back in 1994, on the football show Standing Room Only, they looked at the future of the game. This one from 32 years ago was more serious.

@edinhelp Marchbank way in Balerno, shoddy work left behind from the contactor who carried out some work here last week, can this be reported and sorted out. New tarmac isn't sealed properly or flush to the surrounding tarmac on a busy footpath to and from the school.

I am very wary of reports that the UK is now within range of Iranian ballistic missiles. But if the reports are true, let’s be in no doubt: the UK has no defences against such missiles. No dedicated national ballistic missile defence (BMD) system for intercepting intermediate- or intercontinental-range threats aimed at the homeland. No ground-based interceptors (like US THAAD or Patriot systems in Europe) deployed in Britain for this purpose. In theory our T-45 warships could provide some cover. But most are currently undeployable or not in UK waters. Leaving us defenceless from ballistic missile attack. Another massive military failure of the political class of all recent governments.

Apparently, and most conveniently, Morgan McSweeney's mobile phone with texts to Peter Mandelson was stolen. According to officials, these messages may now be lost forever, meaning there will be gaps in the Mandelson files released by Downing Street. The claim that the phone was nicked and reported to police last year is one thing... But text messages don’t just vanish into the ether. They were not only on McSweeney’s phone. They would also have been on Mandelson’s phone, servers, backups, WhatsApp servers, email archives, telecom records, and government systems. In the modern world, messages don’t disappear. They leave footprints everywhere. Phones get stolen. Cloud backups don’t. Telecom records don’t. Server logs don’t. Recipients’ phones don’t. So when we are told the messages are gone forever, what we are really being asked to believe is not that a phone was stolen. We are being asked to believe that every copy of those messages, everywhere, somehow vanished at the same time. That would be quite a coincidence. In politics, when the evidence disappears, it rarely disappears by accident.

You literally cannot make this up. The Prime Minister's Chief of Staff had his phone "stolen" with all his messages to Lord Mandelson, and conveniently there is ZERO backup. They are treating the public like absolute fools.

Compare this to Barrons today I mean the VAR team have literally confirmed Shankland hand balled it but chose it ignore because it was “accidental”

Only two of these three handballs were given as fouls. Small things but it keeps happening. No VAR scrutiny of the Shinney handball.
