Little known “fact” spiders also love micrometeorites.

Yay! The first (micro)meteorite of the year! This one I scooped out of a hotel gutter in Crosby MN. It’s dirty.. but I couldn’t wait to image it.

Not a micrometeorite… although they are small meteorites :) here’s two of the finds from the recent Ohio fall.

@alteredatrox For this one I was trying to find the ONE that is NOT a mm. I’ll have to look through my post, but I believe it may be the one you picked. :)

Let’s do things a little backwards, here is the haul from the last roof. These are all micrometeorites except can you spot the imposter? :)

A nice glassy mm with a large Fe bead and a tiny Ni one next to it.

@Abucketofholes I did analyze it, that’s basically why I’m questioning it. Very strange chemistry.

@Scottmp123 never mind i’m dumb, i thought i recalled that taenite and kamacite were orthorhombic

Look at those interference colour fringes 🌈 in calcite! By focusing through the grain I can count eight orders. #ThinsectionThursday #Microscopy

A couple years ago I liked to put a micrometeorite on anything I could. For some reason I put it on a ladybug :)

@Scottmp123 3 seconds on loop 10000 times. If you put in an hour at this speed you might experience a full second of real time.

@Scottmp123 I was so excited when I got it working. A few things all have to go right to catch the movement. I have spent quite a few hours just watching stationary beams or just a corner of the device quivering.
