SOTM introduced us to the Mimic acting and actually thinking they're someone else. It becomes "locked-in to someone's persona". It first started with Fiona, then David, and a scrapped ending was about him "becoming" Edwin.

Every time people include Burntrap in Mimic posts as a definitive Mimic I sigh heavily cuz I know if I did the same with Afton posts I would get absolutely eaten alive despite the fact that I am 99.999999% sure that Burntrap is literally just William, especially post-Ruin/SOTM 🧵

I love the call-back to it with Megatron. How he desecrates its grave and belittles Prime’s ideology while boasting his own. A great sequence to emphasize the difference in both leaders.

@Opera_Ghost_Kay Well I can't really argue at that point because I personally find DBD Springtrap more entertaining than annoying
I do kinda wish the Yellow Rabbit was more in line with Afton's usual character to contrast but he was basically at the starting point of becoming Springtrap anyway

@Scrapaton3000 That doesn't make him any less annoying to listen to though. That's like making a movie called "watching paint dry" and it's just 3 hours of paint drying on a static wall and saying "it's peak actually because it's SUPPOSED to be boring"

People will point to DBD as peak springtrap characterization, and it's just him running around going "I am the fun one, RAAAAA"

@Opera_Ghost_Kay It's kinda funny how the most popular iteration of William is by far the LEAST interesting and frankly most hard-to-take-seriously part of the character

@Opera_Ghost_Kay He is and always will be an exaggerated caricature of the real Afton because that's what he's supposed to be
It's probably why the only time you can take him seriously as a threat is when Scott had no way of giving him a voice

@Opera_Ghost_Kay In FNaF AR he was a LITTLE more locked in but when compared to like Afton in FFPS he's still a lot more over-the-top, which is also reflected in Heywood's voice direction where Afton is a lot more collected and threatening while Springtrap sounds like he's TRYING to be scary

@Opera_Ghost_Kay Also Springtrap's kind of always been a caricature, even TFC shows this with the fake-out scene and Afton viewing him as such
He was a mustache-twirling supervillain boasting about his plans and sending out minions to capture a teenager before said teenager whooped his ass
