The source of all disappointment is the misconception that tax is for nationbuilding. It’s not. In this country, tax is involuntary alms. When you drop a coin in the beggar’s bowl, you don’t expect anything in return, do you? Not for yourself, but not even for him. Come back to the spot tomorrow and he’ll still be begging all the same. Even if you had drop a sack of banknotes to him. Alms make you poorer without making him richer. The beggar’s bowl is a bottomless pit. Treat income tax here the exact same way and you won’t be disappointed. Your taxes are not to improve India’s PCI. Or build roads and bridges. Your taxes are to feed the social wretches and the ones they vote into power. So you have two choices: Either continue paying this “rent,” this involuntary alms to maintain your residence in the country you call home. Or join the wretches and leech off others who prefer paying the alms instead.

#WATCH | Delhi Police Crime Branch busts major counterfeit Sensodyne toothpaste unit in Khanjawala, arresting one person, Hari Om Mishra, a resident of Sector-2, Rohini, with a huge consignment of fake Sensodyne toothpaste, empty tubes, cartons, filling and sealing machines, raw paste, and packaging material worth lakhs. On April 2, a well-planned raid was conducted at a godown located in C-Block, Mahaveer Vihar, Khanjawala, Delhi. A case has been registered at the Crime Branch police station under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Copyright Act. Further investigation is underway. During interrogation, the accused Hari Om Mishra admitted that he had rented the godown and was involved in filling empty Sensodyne tubes with locally prepared paste and selling them in the market without any valid license or authorisation. Someone told me that this sculpture is probably showing the Mahameghavahana dynasty of Kalinga and not related to Ashoka. He claimed the elephant is the Vahana here and the Megha(cloud) is carved on top of it.
