If a terror attack killed 86 kids in a US elementary school, our media would be providing wall to wall coverage, interviewing families, providing names & background on the victims. They don’t want us to know the human stories. The lies sit easier when we’re kept in the dark.

Heartbreaking scenes show Iranians searching through their children’s bags and books after an Israeli-American strike killed around 86 girls at an elementary school.

@RobLooseCannon @AerLingus You wouldn't want to be trying to use @talktoBOI online service either, with a síneadh fada in your name. Somehow I doubt the French would accept not being able to use an accent, or that the Germans would be content with not being able to use an umlaut. #Náire

Did you know Aer Lingus @AerLingus, our national airline, wont let you book a ticket with a síneadh fada in your name?! For example, if your name is Seán or Sinéad, the system will either reject the character outright or quietly Anglicise you into Sean or Sinead. No Gaeilge for Irelands national airline!! The reason is they run on a booking system called Astral, from the 1960s. Also airline data must sync with international immigration and security systems, especially in places like the US and UK, and those systems rely on the Machine Readable Zone of your passport, which strips away things like fada`s for global uniformity. Obviously Aer Lingus accepts passports with fadas, even if the ticket doesnt. Just a reminder though that the tightening of ID requirements since the 25th of February 2026, means passengers travelling between Ireland and the UK must present a valid passport or Irish Passport Card! @DerekHolly7

@little_pengelly I think you mean from Ulster? As many of the ancestors of these 21 Presidents could well have been 1798 United Irelanders. 🤔

Peter Mandelson almost destroyed the Peace Process when he attempt to undermine the Patten report. Police reform was an essential foundation stone of the drive for a settlement. It was an act of extreme recklessness.

@TKbytesback @OunkaOnX Exactly, and why mainstream media didn't at the time question the justification for giving her a Nobel peace prize, is also a question that needs answering.

@RuthCan75563366 @cearta It’s interesting that he was charged with causing an obstruction. Was there no specific law at the time that made the singing of a rebel song illegal?

Merriment in Wexford, Ireland, in 1857, as a ballad singer, incarcerated for singing a rebel song, secures his release on Christmas Eve thanks to the generosity of anonymous Irishmen abroad. Read about it here: ruthcannon.com/2026/01/05/the…

Fergal Mythen - Ambassador of Ireland to the UN
Peace is the work of generations. The Anglo-Irish Agreement 1985 was a pivotal moment in the Northern Ireland peace process, leading to the Good Friday Agreement in 1998 and the years of implementation since then. In the words of WB Yeats, “Peace comes dropping slow.”
Irish Foreign Ministry@dfatirl

This week, 40 years ago, the Anglo-Irish Agreement was signed. A landmark moment that laid the foundations of peace in Northern Ireland & a historic new era of British-Irish relations, one defined by a spirit of cooperation & respect across these islands on our path to peace.
