I may be wrong, but I strongly believe Maldivian deserves the Domestic Carrier Award. Seaplane operations should be considered under a separate category, as they operate in a completely different segment of the industry. From my experience working in aviation, I can confidently say that Maldivian handles some of the most challenging operational issues and continues to serve across the nation with nearly 20% capacity constraints, yet they still manage to maintain connectivity and reliability. I truly applaud 👏 Maldivian for keeping operations steady despite the side effects of political pressure and operational challenges. In my view, their commitment, resilience, and national service make them worthy of the Domestic Airline Award.

This vid has been going viral on Chinese social media, and as a Maldivian, I found it really interesting. He was the village head to a small village called Yongxing in Guizhou Province, a community of around 2,000 people, not very different from one of our islands. During his tenure, he focused on lifting people out of poverty, helping villagers build their own businesses, and stand on their own feet as a community. When his term ended and he was about to leave, the villagers literally broke down in tears, walking with him to see him off. It makes me wonder, will we ever see a day when an island council head or an MP serves their people so well that islanders and constituents cry, beg them to stay, and ask them to continue serving!?
