In a very rare post from me, I share a photograph of the Memorial to Princess Charlotte in St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle. Absolutely stunning and I didn’t know it was there. You’re welcome… #sculpture

Home remedies for soothing tonsillitis pain? I am not new to this as I get it all the time, but this time it is unbearable. Codeine, paracetamol, ibuprofen, throat spray, nothing is reducing the pain. I have also gargled with salt water and apple cider vinegar. Suggestions?

Had the pleasure of meeting Hannah and Margarita from ⁦@TokamakEnergy⁩ today during the ⁦@UKAEAofficial⁩ and ⁦@ogdentrust⁩ Fusion Teacher Conference and am delighted they have offered to speak with ⁦@KEVIGS⁩ students about where A level physics might lead.

Just back home after a fantastic Fusion Teachers Conference and visit to the Culham Campus with ⁦@UKAEAofficial⁩ and ⁦@ogdentrust⁩ - and also this fanboy had chance to meet the brilliant James de Winter again (my second favourite Ogden Mentor after Helen 😉) 👍

@CCS_PhizLab @UKAEAofficial @ogdentrust Absolutely fantastic visit! Ogden Trust again finding ways to recharge physics teachers’ [at this time of the year] depleted reserves of energy and enthusiasm and remind us of the passion we have for the subject and the difference our students will be able to make in the world!

Ikigai (生き甲斐) is a Japanese concept referring to something that gives a person a sense of purpose, a reason for living. Japanese have basically a word for any concept that in other languages require lots of words (except German, obviously). The term compounds two Japanese words: iki [生き, meaning 'life; alive'] and kai (甲斐, meaning '(an) effect; (a) result; (a) fruit; (a) worth; (a) use; (a) benefit]. Interestingly, Ikigai has been the subject of many interdisciplnary studies. According to a study by Michiko Kumano, feeling ikigai usually means the feeling of accomplishment and fulfillment that follows when people pursue their passions. National Geographic reporter Dan Buettner suggested ikigai may be one of the reasons for the longevity of the people of Okinawa. Studies have even shown that people who do not feel ikigai are more likely to experience cardiovascular diseases. [📈 dreamstime]

@Pops__o Excellent! I’m a Physics teacher and have started a couple of Astronomy clubs at schools. I’m just getting into introducing some GCSE Physics at my school now. There are lots of great free resources out there - give me a shout if he’s looking for something 👍

As some may know my youngest is weak in maths and has been trying so hard for a year to improve so he could pass the entrance test to sit GCSE Astronomy. Well today, a year later after failing the first time, he PASSED! I’m so proud I could cry. Always reach for the stars
