@SpeakMouthWords @MRJKilcoyne "The greater Warrington metropolitan area (incl. Liverpool and Manchester)."
English

@MRJKilcoyne and we could compromise on the "Would we call it Manchester or Liverpool?" question by calling it Warrington

@samreich @erikaishii @Jiavani @EleWoodsPHD @LilyD Alan Cumming guest host when? Omg, you could wear matching outfits!

@PhysInHistory Have never been convinced that this shows anything other than when you highlight enough bits of a spiral you see the spiral.

So sad that “emotional” is a negative thing to put in a performance review, vs ‘Steve is completely hollow inside. He successfully watched every Pixar movie with 100% dry eyes and neglected a cactus to death in four days. Recommend promotion to VP of HR.’
Amy Diehl, Ph.D.@amydiehl
Study of performance reviews finds 78% of women described as "emotional" vs 11% of men. 56% of women called "unlikeable"; 16% of men. 32% of women called "difficult"; 40% of non-binary; 21% of men. @textio forbes.com/sites/lindsayk…

@CarrieTheBee @PamKeithFL bbc.com/news/articles/… and links to more details in the article. No single unified policy paper exists, but this is a good overview.
English

@PamKeithFL Where are her policies so we can read them? I didn't realize she posted them anywhere.
English

@lennysan Hands down for me it's @ReechaMall she's a pro at making startups profitable and adding business lines to older companies. Just really detail and unit-economics oriented.
English

@misszing In my minds eye I just have you saying "so not a literal maternal figure but..."

@SpeakMouthWords Plastic currently come from oil but there are many other ways to make it and hydrocarbons more generally. If energy becomes nominally free, which is a very real posibility in our lifetime, you can make plastics from co2.
English

Am I crazy for thinking about medical uses of plastic every time people talk about stopping oil drilling or have I just spent too much time in hospitals lately?
James Murray@James_BG
I dunno, man, I just think continually drilling for more fossil fuels when we know burning them is pushing temperatures beyond anything human civilisation has ever experienced might not end well.

@farhanlalji Again, mostly following this argument to its conclusion. I personally believe we haven't found out what the optimal arrangement of supports for a startup is, or even how to assess properly what a startup might need. I feel research in this area is lacking.
English

@farhanlalji I'm saying if the author doesn't see value in kick-starting a skill, then VC skills (coaching, introductions, etc) are also developable in-house, (or by your own networking in these examples) - if there's value in having skills available, you have to justify which ones.
English

@farhanlalji I'm saying the skills investors have are not special or especially different from the skills we assign to platform. If he says we should do away with platform, he ought to justify what a VC should offer as it's just another bucket of learnable (or networkable) skills.
English

@BernieTranders I honestly have so much love for people who don't get it but are so sincerely trying.
