@aisconnolly Formal methods had 4 talks, which is at least 3 more than I've seen before. It makes sense that FV is likely going to be an important part of ZK adoption, since it's compatible with older in-house models (e.g. government standards) that can be replaced by semi-cloud models.

@1HowardWu Thank you for being the champion for privacy yesterday! There's so much focus and energy on VMs and trusted execution that it's easy for the community to forget the magical power that ZK has for protecting human rights.

Why am I so obsessed with private payments? Today's crypto UX is fundamentally broken. Send someone USDC and you've just given them visibility into your entire financial history. Past, present, and future. Explain that to someone IRL and the look on their face is why there is no “mass adoption.” It’s just not what users expect from money. Your bank doesn't show your transaction history to merchants. 20 years ago, the entire internet ran on HTTP. Everything was in plaintext. E-commerce didn’t exist until HTTPS enabled securing sensitive data. Blockchain is still in its HTTP era. And private transactions aren't just a feature, they're a prerequisite for mainstream adoption. ZK proofs solve this by enabling verification without revealing transaction details. Compute locally, verify globally. This isn't just about user experience. Public financial data creates security vulnerabilities for individuals, businesses, and even nations. The missing piece has been configurable compliance, privacy that can adapt to different jurisdictions and regulatory requirements. I believe in 5-10 years, every major token will have a confidential equivalent. Because privacy is necessary for bringing blockchain into everyday financial life.

Instead of imposing economic and financial sanctions on already suffering countries (sanctions don't work), we could instead offer economic opportunity to those who escape oppression. Govts will likely clamp down on this, but then they're doing sanctions on their own citizenery.
