@goatersmotors Bro… soccer is a tertiary sport at best in the US. If our best athletes started in soccer at age 7 or 8 instead of Football, Basketball, Baseball… the athleticism would give a new meaning to talent.
English

Americans who only watch the NFL always say this shit. In their sport only one player on each team has any technical ability, the QB. Everyone else is either just massive or can run really fast and not drop the ball. Their perception of elite sports is athleticism, not talent.
John Fadule@fadule_
Division 2 cornerbacks are more athletic than anyone involved in the World Cup. If Russell Westbrook had 6 months of practice he’d be the greatest Soccer player to ever live.
English

@DanCollins2011 Well… let’s reverse this shall we?! Put your best soccer players on the NBA court or NFL field and let’s see what happens… yeah, that’s what I thought. Dumb ass
English

Soccer players are WAY more athletic than basketball players.
NBA players average 6’8”. These people can’t run for 90 minutes, stop, start, etc.
You think they are athletic because they are playing against each other in a sport that specializes for height.
In reality, they are slow and uncoordinated.
6-8% of the NBA is 7ft tall. There are only 2k-3k people in the world that tall.
English

@DanCollins2011 This is by far the stupidest tweet I’ve ever read…. NBA players are the best pure athletes in the world. Full on sprinting, leaping, defending, scoring on a small circle 10’ in the air … cmon man …
English

@PedroSa54464205 @georgewrighster Lame and untrue. Soccer is tertiary sport in the younger years… our best youth athletes simply don’t play it like in other countries
English

@georgewrighster There are 2000 athletes in the nba and nfl combined in a nation of 330 million . You cant find 22 to play football. Thats a ridiculous argument. Nfl players are too large and nba players to tall for football. Its about talent and skill. Some nations have it . Others do not
English

The USA is no where near elite at soccer. We could be.
Our best athletes are playing NFL, NBA, MLB, and Track.
So either we have to invest in soccer or be ok with these results.
ESPN Insights@ESPNInsights
The U.S. allowed 11 shots in the first half against Belgium. They allowed a total of 10 shots COMBINED in their first halves against Turkiye, Paraguay, Australia and Bosnia-Herzegovina earlier this World Cup 😧
English

@Goldenseed13 @georgewrighster No… our women are the most athletic and they win world cups. Soccer for men is a tertiary sport at best. Imagine LeBron in goal, a backline of NFL tight ends/power forwards, a midfield of Running backs/linebackers and forwards of DB’s and guards all playing soccer since 6ys old
English

@georgewrighster Stop with the “best athletes” things. It’s not a lack of athleticism. We’re probably more athletic than most teams. Soccer is a high technical skill game and we don’t develop good players.
English

@thataquariusb @DanWetzel No she wasn’t. You just don’t listen.
English

@DanWetzel She’s the fakest person ever!!!! Was saying the complete opposite a day ago. Omg her commentary is always useless and horrible.
English

@EliotShorrParks Dumbest tweet… Belgium ranked 8th, US ranked 16th. They were not favorites by anyone that remotely knows soccer.
English

@AzPetrich Seems like a good time to remind everyone that the United States Women’s National Team gets beat by a high school boys team
English

@JohnPatrick911 @AzPetrich Bro… are you ok? Perhaps get help…
English

@AzPetrich The men’s team played with heart and were beat by the better team. It’s ok ✅.
The USA woman’s team are mostly (not all) American hating liberal lesbians taking a knee during our national anthem in support of Free Palestine 🇵🇸

English

@LawrWatcher @bruhhayashi1 @AzPetrich That they’re woman playing against teen age boys… duh. Lamine Yamal was 15 when he turned pro. It says the Women’s World Cup winning team is the best in the world in women’s soccer. Get it Einstein ?
English

@bruhhayashi1 @AzPetrich Yet they beat a team that has won World Cups. So what does that say about the World Cup winning team?
English

@MC_frnk Haaland is an overgrown mutt who wouldn't last ten minutes on a rugby pitch.
English

@MusialaEra He is disrespecting? At the end of the Argentina / Cape Verde the goalie went to talk to Messi and Messi gave him a hug and told him great job. Even gave him his jersey. That is respect. Mbappe is a horrible example to all young kids about sportsmanship when you win.
English

Threw the ball at Mbappe when he rightfully refused to shake hands with him. Paraguay is the most disgraceful team I‘ve ever seen x.com/Jeffpriv9/stat…
English

Anyone else think this is the worst World Cup in living memory?
Qatar was boss. Kick off times were awesome and quality top to bottom.
This World Cup; prob watched a handful of full games due to inconsistent kick-off times and so many dog shit fixtures.
@FIFAWorldCup
English

@RobAbramowitz He also made an attempt to not hit the goalie potentially causing bad injury to the goalie or himself. Penalty.
English

Good call by the referee and VAR on the possible England penalty.
Here are the facts:
• Mpasi-Nzau does not touch the ball.
• He does make contact with Harry Kane’s foot.
But here’s the key:
• Kane is clearly already going down before the contact is even made. He was already losing his balance/diving.
The ref saw that originally and called a dive and there is nothing in the replays that shows evidence to overturn it.
English

@mlycan12 Yes… the good ole “Mystery Clock” complete with “let the run of play finish”… absurd in a timed sporting event that nobody knows the time
English

Can we seriously talk about fixing the clock situation in the World Cup and international soccer. It really makes my head hurt. The ridiculous advertising driven “hydration breaks” add on three minutes so why not just stop the clock rather than add at least 3 minutes to each half?
And how is it that if a game lasts 96 min, it resets back to 90 min to start OT so 3 min into OT it says 93:00 when it’s really been 99 minutes.?
Since they insist on “counting up” I always have to do math the whole game which is highly irritating and we never even know what exactly we are counting to since it’s a mysterious secret that only the ref knows. I’ve been obsessed with soccer my whole life but this is still one of the biggest dumb things about soccer in my book
