Many may not know this part of my background - I’ve spent most of career in the sports-licensed apparel business. My first job out of UConn in 1991 was a sales position at a company called College Concepts. Over the last 15 years I’ve been involved with Mitchell & Ness @mitchell_ness on the sales side, design, and as a partner and board member. I just got the green light to build something I’m genuinely fired up about: Marc D’Amelio x Mitchell & Ness x UConn, targeted to drop Holiday 2026. Here’s the key: I want this to be fan-driven. The collection will blend lifestyle product like hoodies, tees, outerwear, headwear, etc. with authentic components including jerseys and authentic sideline apparel creating real heritage-inspired pieces pulled from the best eras of UConn. So I’m asking the real experts - the fans: From a graphic standpoint, what’s missing in the marketplace for UConn? What are the must-have marks, eras, fonts, color hits, wordmarks, patches, or details that no one is getting right? Any authentic basketball or football jerseys you wish existed or should be brought back? Any players we should build around - on the basketball side and the football side - that deserve a true Mitchell & Ness style homage? My plan is to do a campus fashion show + on-campus launch, and tie it into an NIL component that actually supports current athletes. I’d love to feature one UConn football player and one UConn women’s athlete as the faces of the collection. Drop your ideas below.
