From Philadelphia Inquirer - "In 2020-21, teachers of color made up 6.2% of Pennsylvania public school teachers, compared with 36.6% of students, according to Research for Action. Nearly half of public schools statewide had no teachers of color." - inquirer.com/news/pa-cultur…

NEW: In a historic victory for students, a judge has declared Pennsylvania's school funding system unconstitutional. We proved that the students who need the most have the least, because the state shortchanges low-wealth communities. It's time to change that.

Philly had a world champ boxer who beat Muhammad Ali and had a band called "Joe Frazier and the Knockouts" that did Bill Withers covers?! I'm embarrassed I didn't know this story!

My statement on the potential impact of new state graduation requirements on @PHLschools. Our students are not failing. They have been failed by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. This must be a wake up call to give kids what they deserve: the tools to truly succeed and thrive.

Very cool to see @PHLedResearch research on PA’s graduation policy used to support a call for action at city council. It’ll take system-level collaboration to advocate for and support Philadelphia’s graduates.

When I took the Keystones in 2012, a teacher told me it might count towards graduation (thankfully, it didn’t 😅) 10 years later, a new graduation policy is making Keystone exams high stakes and changing the requirements for high school graduation. Check it out #PHLed

How might new graduation requirements impact #PHLed students? 📢 Historical data shows that only about 1/3 of @PHLschools students would have graduated through the new Keystone pathways. Read to learn more about Act 158 and its implications for #PHLed: phledresearch.org/changing-the-f…

Did you know that only a few states still have policies that tie high school graduation to standardized exams? Starting with the class of 2023, PA joins them. Check out our brief on Act 158, which explains the policy and its history in PA. bit.ly/3zX8fE5 #PHLed #PERCgrad
