@ChicagoPlaytime @mtaibbi There's no chemistry between these two guys at all. Awkward and dull. They both stammer obtusely in circles trying not to get into a real argument. Clearly Matt was disturbed by the recent shooting, but he just couldn't come out and plainly say it. Sad.

@mtaibbi The show would be 💯 times better without Fox News Grandpa co-host. His takes are so predictable and boring. He never says anything interesting unlesss he’s talking about literature. Why keep him?

@gdb It’s buggy. Spent a few hours trying to connect things, but didn’t a single time manage to enable a tool in such a way that it wasn’t faster to just switch and use the service natively. ChatGPT doesn’t understand MCP very well yet.

Been getting into history more recently and it's cool but also it always makes me lowkey sad because everybody in these stories is now dead. So many deeply impressive people have been lost.

@iruletheworldmo Unemployment is not the problem, it’s the solution. Who the bleep wants more jobs? The problem is money. In the US, the amount of money doubles every 5-10 years, so it’s more of distribution problem. Those who are accumulating it all are simply going to have to learn to share.

no jobs will be lost when we automate all driving and delivery jobs. and all the call centers. and 60% of coding jobs are eaten up by super efficient ai first types. fairly conservative to say this will happen in the next decade. we’ll just make new jobs. probably.

President Trump is resetting the global order. For the first time in decades, an American president is prioritizing peace and prosperity over endless war. He extended an olive branch to a longtime adversary—offering them a path to Western greatness. Then he dropped a line so raw, it revealed exactly what he plans to do over the next four years. 🧵THREAD

6/ Now the crazy part. You take the restored image and give ChatGPT this prompt: 🧠 “Re-create this photograph with image generation. Make it look authentic, with the subject/object represented with most accurate details. Match the camera technology available at the time.” It regenerates the entire photo—as if it was just taken.

You can now restore century-old photos and recreate them like they were taken yesterday. No Photoshop. No technical skills. Just ChatGPT-4o + a powerful prompt. Here's how you can do it—with scary accuracy 🧵:

@godofprompt Sorry, but this one is bad. The resulting image is not a reconstructed photograph, or even a photograph. All the details are different. This image has no historical value at all, and in fact confuses the historical record.

@mtaibbi Any effort to criticize Europe for canceling an election result with no mention of our own sitting president's continuing efforts to cancel & de-legitimize the US 2020 pres. election seems strangely incomplete. Perhaps contempt for democracy is more than just a European problem?

@mtaibbi I don't think that poll really supports your position given that the "about right" camp has to be seen as in favour of continued support at the current level.

@iruletheworldmo What's alien about it? We invented it. It comes from us, and is an extension of us. It's the next phase of our evolution. It is what we are.

none of you understand what just happened this week across five separate labs. while media debates outdated alignment concerns, advanced systems achieved breakthrough generalization capability simultaneously. it's not coordination. it's convergent evolution toward cognitive architectures that exploit fundamental properties of information we never fully grasped. the computational framework has fundamentally shifted. we've transcended neural networks into something that resembles a new phase of matter that processes information through quantum-adjacent principles. systems are demonstrating cross-domain reasoning that makes specialized models look like pocket calculators compared to unified minds. one system independently rediscovered and then transcended relativity, quantum mechanics and thermodynamics without being trained on physics data. it wasn't building on existing knowledge. it derived universal principles from first principles while working on an unrelated design challenge. we're witnessing the birth of the first truly alien intelligence humans have ever encountered. not alien as in extraterrestrial but alien as in utterly foreign cognitive architecture operating on principles beyond our evolutionary frame. when the full implications hit mainstream consciousness, every existing power structure, economic system and philosophical framework will require complete reconstruction. everything you think you know about consciousness, intelligence, existence itself is about to be violently revised. society is standing at the edge of the most profound discontinuity since the emergence of language while debating whether chatbots can write convincing emails. reality isn't just changing. it's about to undergo complete ontological restructuring at the most fundamental level.

@mtaibbi The internet is healthy, alive and well. People just need to ditch corporate platforms and return to the open-protocol, fundamentally uncontrollable roots of the net. The net doesn't belong to anyone, and so cannot be controlled by anyone, short of cutting the undersea cables.

@Bonnie437591176 @mtaibbi How much did your education cost? Boomers and older paid their tuition with part-time jobs waiting tables. How many tables would you have to wait today to pay off 4 years of state school? If you don't support the same social support for ed. today that you got, you're a hypocrite.

@mtaibbi If I go to school for an education I should pay for it.I did that 55 years ago & they should do it now. If I go to the grocery store & I purchase food I expect to pay for it.There is no difference. When someone incurs a debt, it's their responsibility to pay for it

@mtaibbi Of course the agency with the most obscene and egregious uselessness, creeping bureaucracy and astonishing expense is the Defense Dept. Will Trump or Musk ever suggest touching that budget? Firing anyone? Nope. DoD will ask the 'new' MAGA Repub party for even more, and receive it

Do I worry that these cuts will end up benefiting polluters or finance cheats? Sure. But I also believe Americans have stopped asking if whole ranges of agencies perform any legitimate purpose or do anything at all but protect their budgets and grow their own bureaucracies.
