I genuinely like a lot of this Kentucky roster. There have been upgrades made to last season's roster and it is starting to come together...but by going ALL IN on Tyran Stokes and not getting him you are, likely, left without the STAR that you need. Waiting around so long and not closing the deal left the 'Cats in a situation where there are essentially no places to turn. "Plan B" doesn't REALLY exist. Maybe Milan Momcilovic becomes available, but can the staff actually land him? Is there an international player ready to be the BEST player on a Final Four team? Will an option fall from the sky due to a random late coaching change? It just doesn't seem likely that you fill that STAR role and, quite frankly, that was the most important role that needed to be filled this offseason. Two things can be true at the same time. I think this Kentucky roster is quite a bit better than what it seems like the consensus is at this point. I'm confident it will be a more TALENTED team than 2025-2026 (not the highest of bars). However, it also isn't "good enough." The roster doesn't need to be set on April 29th. Maybe there is a Plan B stuck up Coach Pope's sleeve. However, at this point, my confidence in that being the case is slim. Here's to hoping it all works out!
