A healthy culture doesn't guarantee a win, doesn’t guarantee you won’t face adversity or that things will always go your way. Everyone gets tested. Everyone faces obstacles. Everyone falls down. Culture determines how you respond to those moments. Build it on purpose.

Team building session 4 with UAH Women’s Soccer. The purpose was to build trust and connection by allowing teammates to get to know each other on a deeper level. When you … 👀 see someone, 👂 hear a part of their story, and ❤️ feel what they feel, you create 🔗 connection. The stronger the connection, the deeper the trust. When you have trust, you have a foundation to do something great together! Teams that trust each other, stop playing WITH each other and start playing FOR each other! PS. Parents many of you were their hero’s. If they haven’t told you that lately, know that you are! And we loved hearing how many of their hardships were precursors to their highlights. Adversity is your partner in growth! Appreciate @JamesBallamy1 _ trusting us to facilitate these sessions with his team!

One of the most powerful mental shifts an athlete can make: Evaluate performance… without evaluating your worth. Performance measures your skills. It should never measure your value as a person. When athletes redefine success around controllable behaviors, they stop competing for approval and start competing for excellence. That’s when they begin to play free.

Change what you measure about performance 4th …Expand your true identity. Grow your interests, character, and relationships beyond your sport. This takes work but it can be done. You are more than your performance!

Many athletes unknowingly develop a performance-based identity. When they perform well… they feel like somebody. When they struggle… they feel like a failure. Over time the brain learns a dangerous equation: Performance = Self-Worth But here’s the truth every athlete needs to understand 👇 Your performance will always fluctuate. Your identity doesn’t have to. When athletes separate identity from performance: • Mistakes don’t create emotional spirals • Pressure decreases • Resilience increases • Performance often improves Because they’re no longer playing to prove their worth. They’re playing to express who they are. Great athletes stop using sport as a mirror that tells them who they are… and start using it as a platform to show who they are becoming. Your sport is something you do. It is not who you are. Great time supporting UAB Blazers softball last night. This team is gritty and growing. While they did not get the result they wanted, they showed fight in how they battled and servanthood in how they were for each other. Love how these coaches care about their players and about winning. You don’t have to sacrifice one to be the other. Conference play starts this weekend and they are going to a tough out! Look forward to continuing to watch the growth in this team!
