@NekiasNBA They were always protecting Burrell. Gotta be that they exposed Stevens and the two expansions teams preferred Carleton and Mabrey. (I doubt LA actually gets to keep Azura ... someone else will pay her more than they can afford to.)

Aside from the actual date of the draft, this should’ve been the first thing sorted out bc of how unprecedented it is. Forget analysts like me or fans not knowing; how, according to the most recent reporting, do TEAMS not know how this will work yet?

We are roughly two weeks away from the expansion draft and we still don’t have a firm understanding of how the protections are going to work with over 70% of the league entering free agency.

@NekiasNBA My guess is they had to have the Core still apply this year because forcing teams to protect their superstars is the only way the expansion draft can involve enough players to function! (It's gonna be protect 5, lose 1, protect 2 more with Por/Tor allowed to take UFA's to Core.)

@seeratsohi Did they go with net or gross for the math? Did the players get the percentage up to 20%? Are the teams going to continue providing housing to at least the non-guaranteed contract players? What's up with the Core designation? I want terms!

@ndhawk88 @seeratsohi I agree I would cut Copper and either Plum or Ionescu. However, I can see why Lish might prefer a guaranteed 3x3 seat rather than risking not making the 5x5 team.

@SeattleStormFan @seeratsohi I would say Cooper, but she gives you size that can guard larger players. She might be preferrable to Plum or Sabrina. They are all very close. Close enough that the decision could come to chemistry and possibly even who has not had the opportunity (if it is really dead even).

for the lore-knowers: why is Allisha Gray not a 5x5 Olympic lock?

@tprosper @seeratsohi I agree with you, but I could easily see Plum feeling entitled to a 5x5 spot and Lish being fine with being the star of the 3x3 team. I suspect that's what happened. (Also you probably need to cut 2 from my list, unless you only want to take 5 bigs.)

@seeratsohi @SeattleStormFan It’s funny because I think Plum’s game is better suited for 3x3 while Lish would cause matchup nightmares in 5x5. That’s the swap for me.

The CBA thing i still can’t get past: getting a proposal, essentially saying “that’s not worth a response” and letting it sit, coming to an in-person meeting empty-handed and *then* being like “hey y’all we need to get this done by March 10 if you don’t want delays”
