So much of the Lindsey Graham discourse on here is gross and inhumane. A human being made in the image of God has died. And that’s always a tragedy. Graham’s political life was both principled and pragmatic. Principled in that he (imho) had hard core convictions about foreign policy and standing up to America’s enemies. Pragmatic in that he always looked for ways to position himself — and at times ingratiate and contradict himself — to maintain relevance to the political moment, whether that meant looking for ways to align with Obama or looking for ways to align with Trump. The pragmatic was in service of the principled. One can (and I do) think that posture was at times unfortunate. But one can’t look at his record on foreign policy without seeing a person with a clear eyed vision of how good and evil were competing on the world stage. And that work MATTERS. The larger legacy deserves analysis. But not today; for now, I think the humane thing is to mourn the death of an image bearer who wanted to see his country kept safe from ghouls who chant “death to America” and otherwise work to degrade our ability to defend ourselves and maintain a western alliance that values liberty and human dignity.

So dumb. Iran’s tolls were a mafia protection racket to (would be a shame if something happened to that beautiful ship). If the U.S. opens the strait by force it will be protecting ships from Iran — and incurring enormous costs to do so. There’s nothing wrong with charging a substantial fee for that service. Indeed 20% might not even scratch the surface of the actual cost.

Didn't come to the front. Just looked at him the way she looks at people when she decides they're worth seeing. He said — "Can I sit with her?" He sat on the concrete floor at her level. Not the bench. The floor. That was 11am. At 3pm I looked in. He was still there. Her white muzzle was in his hand. Their breathing had synchronized. At 3:15 he came to the front desk and said — "I'd like to take her home. I think we need each other." I excused myself to the back room and sat on an overturned bucket and cried for a long time. He texted me yesterday — "First time I've slept through the night in three years. I think she was saving that for me." She was. Eleven years of saving it. For one Tuesday. For him. Drop a ❤️ for Luna. Share this for every senior dog still waiting for their Tuesday. They're saving everything they have for the right person to walk through that door.
