The joy of agenting; to read a monstrously long novel, write 2,500 words of editorial notes, meet author, they agree to sign with you, you send the agreement and notes document only for them to 1 week later decline to sign & say they’re actually going to self publish the novel.

@emily_glenister @harryillers And you can do mine, and see what is like to be on this side. A couple of agents did give me personal feedback so it was possible for them.

@emily_glenister @harryillers Well, I think it is possible, and I think that authors deserve it when they've hours, months, years of work into their novel..

@SeddonJacqui @harryillers I get 100+ submissions a week, it is physically not possible.

@emily_glenister @harryillers He could have had a contract in place before doing work. Does he get up at 5am to put in a couple of hours before work? It's difficult to start over with no clue why you've been rejected. If agents read the work surely they can put a couple of lines why they're rejecting?
