Congratulations to all the volunteers who contributed to this effort! This kind of citizen-led initiative is exactly why we must protect the power of Ohioans to demand change when government is unresponsive and out-of-step with the people. Next step: #VoteNoOnIssue1

For me, the election for Issue 1 on August 8th comes down to a fundamental question: Do you believe Ohioans have the capacity to make informed decisions about what is best for their families and communities? By raising the threshold to 60% after 111 years, it suggests that they do not possess this ability. I have faith in the intelligence of Ohioans, which is why I'm voting NO on Issue 1.

And, the Senate budget passed today by Republicans cuts many public education, child care, mental health, and children’s services programs that would help our children and families thrive. The declining well-being of Ohio’s children is a policy choice.

Why do we oppose Issue 1? 📢Issue 1 would end majority rule: 40% of voters veto the will of 60% of voters for citizen initiatives 📢Issue 1 takes away freedoms we've had since 1912 📢Issue 1 gives special interests the winning advantage Protect our power– Vote No on August 8th

The LGBTQ+ community deserves the right to live, work & raise a family safely & securely, like everyone else. House Dems stand with the LGBTQ+ community during #PrideMonth, & every month. We will never stop fighting back against cruel & extremist laws that harm our neighbors.

📣 Why is Issue 1 a danger to Ohioans? : 1️⃣eliminates majority rule, allowing 40% of voters to veto the will of 60% for citizen initiatives. 2️⃣ requires those seeking to put forward amendments to collect signatures from at least 5% of voters in all 88 counties. #VoteNoInAugust
